Book Review: Color & Conjure

Color and Conjure: Rituals & Magic Spells to Color

Text: Natalie Zaman

Art: Wendy Martin

Llewellyn Books, 2017

$14.99 PB, 176 pages

Just in time for Halloween/Samhain is a lovely witchy coloring book, Color & Conjure with spells and commentary by Natalie Zaman and line drawings by Wendy Martin. If you’re a witch, pagan, or are interested in spells AND you enjoy coloring, then this is the PERFECT coloring book for you.

Containing 176 pages, Color & Conjure consists of 13 sections:

  • How to use this book
  • Money
  • Love
  • Family
  • Protection
  • Health
  • Creativity
  • Personal Power
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Magic & Nature
  • Awaken the Chakras
  • Coloring pages
  • Resources for adapting & enhancing your spells

In the section entitled, “How to use this book,” Natalie Zaman points out that intention and focus are of primary importance when performing spells & that coloring can be a valuable tool that helps to increase focus upon magical intentions. When you combine your intention, focus, a few well-thought-out words and perhaps some magical correspondences suddenly your coloring page becomes a powerful magical tool.

Color & Conjure is not simply a magical-themed coloring book. There are other titles that fit that description. Color & Conjure combines coloring with actual spells so that your own coloring can be used in combination with candles, oils, herbs, and other tools in order to set energies into motion that help to manifest positive change in your life.

Each chapter consists of 3 – 5 (mostly 5) spells with the chapter on the chakras containing seven, one spell for each of the seven main chakras. Instructions on how to perform the spell are included that cover wording, the use of candles & easily available kitchen herbs, and also suggestions as to which colors to use to color in the images based upon the meaning and magical correspondences of the colors. Instructions are very simple so even if you have no experience with spells you will be able to easily put Color & Conjure to good use.

What I particularly like about Color & Conjure, other than the wonderful idea of combining spells with coloring, is that the pages on which the spells are printed always include a small version of the corresponding coloring page, which is located in full size in the latter half of the book. You can follow the author’s coloring suggestions on that smaller version of the coloring page or make up your own just to see what it would look like and then color in the main coloring page. That smaller version of the coloring page is a great place to experiment with color and artistic mediums. The type of paper used in the coloring book is the same throughout so you will know how your artistic mediums will respond on the large coloring pages by practicing on their smaller counterparts. Each chapter’s lead page also has an image you can color.

Each spell includes the page number of the corresponding coloring page. For example, on page 38 the spell, “Mirror, Mirror,” which is a spell for self-love and self-appreciation has a smaller version of its corresponding coloring page on the lower left-hand side, along with a ribbon that includes a hand pointing to the words, “see coloring page 121 where you will find a large version of the same coloring image on page 38.

color & conjure color pageThe page numbers of the coloring pages are 1/3” from the bottom edge of the page next to the binding of the book. Each coloring page is completely perforated for easy removal for coloring and you can then set the page with your candles and other magical tools when performing the spell. Coloring pages are all printed single-sided.

After the spell is completed you can bury the coloring page, burn it, or keep it in your Book of Shadows as a remembrance of the spell you performed. I really like how the page numbers are so close to the binding. When you pull the coloring page out of the book the page number remains within the book so all you have on your coloring page is the image itself.

Coloring images have a ¾” border on all four sides so you can even frame these if you so desire. Wendy Martin’s use of line is quite pleasing to the eye. Line thickness varies ever so slightly throughout each coloring page that helps to emphasize some symbols over others. Many adult coloring books have highly intricate images for which you need to use something with a very fine point like gel pens. Wendy’s images have large enough areas to color that you can easily use crayons with Color & Conjure. Many adult coloring books do not work well with crayons due to the intricacy of the images. The drawings have an overall open and friendly energy to them and the compositions are all pleasing to the eye.

Color & Conjure will appeal to any magically minded person who also enjoys to color, but even if you don’t, this coloring book is a great resource of very simple and easy to perform spells. I recommend it to any artistically inclined witch, but also to anyone who would like a resource of quick and simple spells.

The remainder of this review is intended for artists and colorists who wish to know the technical details regarding how this paper accepts various artistic mediums:

  • Overall size: 9 x 9 x 1/2″
  • Paperback
  • Page total: 176
  • Main coloring pages: 50
  • Smaller versions of main coloring pages: 50
  • Images of chapter headings: 11
  • Title page coloring image: 1
  • Concluding page image: 1
  • Perforation: yes
  • Protective sheet: none
  • Paper weight: 60 lbs (my best estimate)
  • Recommended artistic mediums:
    • colored pencils ~ layering & burnishing up to 4 layers of colors works well on this paper weight. I have not tried more than 4 layers of color.
    • crayons
    • water-based markers ~ I used Tomball, Zig, and a generic no-name store brand. This paper holds up well to 4 layers of blended water-based markers. As you add a fourth layer be careful because at this point the color will begin to bleed through the page.
    • Gel, glitter, and milk pens

Color & Conjure derwentI did attempt to use Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils. I layered 3 colors and then applied water somewhat sparingly. The paper did buckle on the colored surface as well as the reverse side of the page. Most of the buckling disappeared once the page was completely dry, but I can still feel the buckling if I run my fingers over the page; as a result, I do not recommend watercolor pencils or watercolors.

Crayons and colored pencils GLIDE over this paper. I had to be careful to not run out of the lines because the crayons and pencils glide so easily and quickly. This paper also helps crayons and colored pencils to present a very level color coverage. I did not see any streaking as I applied color. Gel, glitter, and milk pens all present even coverage on this paper so I highly recommend their use for smaller areas of the line drawings.

Color & Conjure pageNote: If you are like me you may be hesitant to mar your coloring book with color. There is a simple fix. This is what I do with my coloring books. I basically very carefully take them apart. This is the method I use and so far I have not ruined a single image:

  • I carefully cut or tear the front and back covers from the spine of the coloring book.
  • Next, I begin with the first image (or title page) and carefully bend the page back and forth against the binding. Bend the page along where the paper actually meets the glue of the binding.
  • As you see the page begin to give slightly, VERY carefully pull or rip the page from the book. Do this slowly with patience.
  • Do the same to the last page of the coloring book.
  • Return and repeat the process with the remaining front page, then the remaining back page, and so on until you have pulled all the pages free from the spine.

I keep my coloring page originals in a manila file folder with the book cover for reference. When I wish to color an image I make a copy. Keep in mind that copies made on a printer can bleed based upon what type of ink you use in your printer. I copy the images onto 110 lb light cardstock. That takes any artistic medium fairly well, but again, be careful how much water you use if using watercolors or watercolor pencils as the cardstock can “pill up.”

Blessings!

Full Disclosure: I received this book from the publisher in order to consider it for review. I only review those decks that are of interest to me & which I feel would also be of interest to my followers.

Tarot Tuesday: the week of Sept. 19 – 25th

Sept 19 bThis is the inaugural post for a new feature at my blog, Tarot Tuesday, for which I will provide a short reading for that week’s energies. The week runs from Tuesday – Monday and the energies for the week will cover the Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual.

This week’s deck is The Golden Tarot of Klimt, published by Lo Scarabeo.

What amazed me is that I randomly drew 3 cards from the deck and they all ended up being from the major arcana. This tells me immediately that very powerful forces are at work this week. Major arcana cards embody universal spiritual forces that affect all our lives at various times. We have some very powerful energy coming into play for this week, as you will see from the cards below.

sept-19-a.jpg

Emotional energies are represented by The Hierophant. This card depicts a man in a robe holding a staff. The traditional interpretation is dogma, rules, doing things by the book, and the established status quo.

Regarding the emotional energies of the week, what I sense from The Hierophant is that many of us really do not like change. I know I don’t. There is great comfort and a sense of security in things remaining as they are, even if we’re not happy with the situation. Some of us would rather be unhappy than deal with change. The Hierophant is very set in his ways. A real stick-in-the-mud. He doesn’t want to budge.

What I sense of this week’s energies tells me that we will be called upon to think outside the box.  Doing things the “usual way” worked for quite a while and we still wish to cling to our old approach, but we’re entering a time of great change for our planet. All of these recent storms and earthquakes are proof of that.

The usual way of doing things will not serve our highest good at this time, though we find great comfort in the “norm” and change upsets most people. Our usual responses to the emotional stimuli we face in a typical week will not suffice. We shall be called upon to basically rise above ourselves. For example, if a certain person stands on your last raw nerve and you typically react with anger, this week you will be called upon to react differently. Perhaps with understanding and compassion as you make an effort to place yourself in their shoes. What are they mirroring about  yourself that you may not wish to examine?

The mental energies of the week are represented by The Lovers. The Lovers embody the universal spiritual forces of choice, attraction, temptation, and yes, it can mean a romantic relationship, but in a reading that is meant to be for many people it most likely is not  your romantic relationship so we’ll stick with the energies of the card.

What I sense from The Lovers is that although we may be required to think or react in ways that are different or unusual from our norm, the temptation will be to fall back on old patterns.  Your Ego will think it knows better and will attempt to manipulate you to follow your typical response patterns to emotional stimuli, so that person who stands on your last nerve – your Ego will say, go ahead, get angry or lash out, but The Hierophant is here pointing the way toward a more positive reaction.  Your Ego will bring up your fears and insecurities. Do not fall into the trap it sets for you. Look past  your fears.

The spiritual energies of the week are represented by The World. The World embodies the universal spiritual forces of completion, cycles, and potential. What better image than a woman about to give birth?

Spiritually, there is TREMENDOUS potential for growth right now. This applies to everyone. As our planet goes through new birthing pains that energy is affecting each of us. It is up to us as individuals as to what we do with that energy. Will you put all that potential to good use in order to promote your own growth; or, will you bury your head in the sand by insisting on doing things the same way you always have and miss out on all this new energy and growth that has recently entered the earth plane?

I am thinking of all the new energy that came in with the solar eclipse of August 21st. Did you feel it? I sure did. It nearly knocked me on my ass for 2 days.  It was a great deal for me to process it, and I know I was not the only one affected in that manner.

It takes a real leap of faith to accept new energy into your life because we can never know how things will work out. There is no “plan.” We don’t have a map we can easily follow from point A to point B and beyond. We are pretty much wandering around clueless as to where all this is going to lead us as individuals and as a collective.

We can only have faith that all this “newness” and upheaval will end up being for our highest good in the long run. We have VERY positive forces at work here as these cards demonstrate, so hang on. It’s going to be one hell of a ride.

Magical & spiritual education never ends. It’s basically a bottomless pit of age old wisdom

Nefer’s Witchy Tips # 2: Bay Leaves

02 - bay leavesHerbs have many uses. Bay is one of my favorite herbs. I always used bay leaves for banishing negative energy.

For example, steep them in hot water, then add to your mop water. As you clean the floors with it you not only clean up the negative energy, you also set up protection to keep new negative energy out of your home or place of business.

If you have a troublesome neighbor, take a large bay leaf & with a red Sharpie marker write their name on it. Burn the leaf. As it burns imagine their influence in your life decreasing. They will then go bother someone else.

Place crushed bay leaves along the threshold of the entrances to your home to act as a protective perimeter. Leave in place for about 30 minutes, then sweep or vacuum it up. The energy signature of the herb will remain in place for approximately 30 days (i.e., one lunar cycle). At that point renew as needed.

If you’re having difficulties in the workplace, place 2 leaves in an equal-armed cross formation somewhere in your desk. If you move around a lot at work so that you’re not spending most of  your day at your desk then try the following.

  • At home (not at work as this may look weird to others) choose 2 bay leaves that are as identical in size as you can manage.  Have a white envelope handy. Next, write your name on one bay leaf and the name of your employer or troublesome coworker on the other bay leaf. Sharpie markers work the best as they will not cause the bay leaves to crack if you’re careful and don’t use too much pressure.
  • Place the bay leaf with their name on it as the horizontal arm of the equal armed cross.
  • Place the bay leaf with your name as the vertical arm of the equal armed cross.
  • Tape or glue two bay leaves together in the shape of an equal arm cross.
  • Visualize yourself happy at work and at the top of your game.  As you hold that image in your imagination open the envelope and place the bay leaf cross in your power hand (your dominant hand) and crush them together. Allow the fragments to fall into the envelope.
  • When you are next at work discreetly open the envelope and sprinkle the crushed bay leaves in an inconspicuous place. Leave it there and know it will do its work. As with the threshold spell you may need to renew this every 30 days depending upon the severity of your situation.

Money troubles? Place a dried bay leaf in your wallet or purse. You may want to wrap it in a plastic baggie  or foil because it will eventually break. Switch it out for a new leaf every 30 days.

Relationship issues? Follow the instructions for creating an equal-armed bay leaf cross. No need to write your names on it. Place it under your bed on the floor as close to the center of the headboard as you can get it. Visual the relationship healing as you set the bay leaf cross in place. Leave in place and change it out every 30 days.

Burn bay leaves to alleviate stress & anxiety. The scent of bay has also been used for insomnia & muscle tension.

Bay leaves are inexpensive, simple to store, extremely useful, & no  witch should ever be without bay leaves within handy reach.

Magical education never ends. It’s basically a bottomless pit of age old wisdom

Review: Crystal Visions Tarot

Crystal visions tarot 1Originally published in 2011 by US Games Systems, Inc., The Crystal Visions Tarot has remained among my favorite decks to this day. That is notable considering my collection is now up to around 300 decks. The hallmarks of The Crystal Visions Tarot are the bright colors, muted backgrounds that make the main images “pop,” a nice sturdy yet flexible laminate for easy shuffling, and a LWB (Little White Book) that is not so little. The artist, Jennifer Galasso, was inspired by the Stevie Nicks’ CD, Crystal Visions, when creating the deck. Crystals appear frequently in the card imagery in their natural form as well as in the form of crystal balls.

Crystal visions tarot 2The Crystal Visions Tarot numbers 78 cards: 23 major arcana and 56 minor arcana. The cards of the major arcana all have traditional titles with Strength as arcana # 8 and Justice as arcana # 11. There is an extra card entitled, The Unknown Card. The Unknown Card represents some aspect of the situation under question that is still unknown. When it comes to extra cards in a tarot deck it is up to the reader’s discretion as to whether they include the extra card(s) in their readings or not.

The suits of the minor arcana are: Cups (Element of Water), Swords (Element of Air), Pentacles (Element of Earth), and Wands (Element of Fire). The court cards are: Page, Knight, Queen, and King.

The artwork and text of the Crystal Visions Tarot are by Jennifer Galasso. The imagery follows the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition so this is a good deck for beginners. The color scheme and figural representations make  Crystal visions tarot 3 the Crystal Visions Tarot quite readable without a constant need to refer to the LWB, unless someone is absolutely brand new to tarot. It is one of those decks that works very well with a person’s own innate powers of intuition. If you are interested in a good divination tool that can help you to further strengthen your intuition, the Crystal Visions Tarot is such a tool. I highly recommend this deck for both new and well-seasoned readers.

The Crystal Visions Tarot has a very thin, yet sturdy laminate. I have used this deck extensively for six years now and it shows no signs of wear whatsoever. Cards are typical tarot-card size and the deck shuffles easily.

The deck comes housed in a tuck-box that appears to have the same light laminate as the actual cards. I will say after six years the box has a bit of wear, but that is to be completely expected as I have never housed the Crystal Visions Tarot in a bag or another box.

Crystal visions tarot 4The LWB is the same size as the cards, with a single staple as its binding. It contains 64 pages. Card interpretations relate the imagery depicted on the card to the card meaning. Reversed interpretations are included. The card back design is completely reversible for those who read with reversals.

For beginners, the Crystal Visions Tarot is a great deck because the artist followed a specific color scheme for the majors and each of the suit that make the cards much simpler to identify in a reading. The cards of the major arcana all feature a tan border along the base in which the title is presented. Cups cards have a pink basal border that contains their titles. Swords have a light blue border along their base, Pentacles green, and Wands pale orange or salmon. Dominant colors within the card images themselves are  purple, pink, white, blue, red, and green. Colors are bright, yet soft. Artistically speaking, the Crystal Visions Tarot is truly an outstanding deck and is among my personal favorites.

The Crystal Visions Tarot would appeal to anyone who is looking for a deck that is easy to read, especially if they are a beginning, but it’s also great for seasoned readers who may work with crystals and crystal balls who may desire a deck that features their magical tools. The Crystal Visions Tarot also has a lovely pagan look to it so those who follow a pagan path would also find this deck to be desirable.

Wishing you many blessings!

Nefer’s Witchy Tips # 1: Attitude & Stirring

Are you a kitchen witch? Do you infuse your cooking with positive energy as you’re busy creating your family’s meal? If not, do you realize the simple practice of food preparation can be transformed into a very simple yet effective magical ritual that can help to manifest what you desire for yourself and your family? Read on …

I have been a kitchen witch all my life. As soon as I was old enough to stand on a chair to watch my mom cook, I began my official training. My very first lesson, which I have since passed on to my own daughter, involves stirring.

Now, you may ask, what is so special about stirring? All you’re doing is mixing the ingredients & preventing food from burning on the bottom of the pan.

Yes, that’s true, but if you have a propensity for all things witchy the simple act of stirring becomes much, much more.

A wooden spoon stirring a pot of vegetables on the stove.
Stirring food. From pixabay.com. Copyright-free images.

When we stir – yes, we are mixing the ingredients, BUT, we are also infusing the food with our energy. Therefore, your emotional and mental attitude while cooking becomes important. How many times have you been upset about something, then you make dinner, and about halfway through suddenly everyone at the dinner table is arguing with everyone else? Think about it. I’m sure you can come up with a few examples.

That occurred because you were upset, sad, or angry while cooking and as you prepared the meal those emotions went right into it along with all the other ingredients.

Therefore, as part of  Tip # 1, a very important ingredient that should henceforth go into all you cook & bake is this:

your attitude

You're as Positive as your Attitude, from "Guidance & Inspiration From the Angelic Realm," self-published & copyright by Nefer Khepri, 2017.
You’re as Positive as your Attitude, from “Guidance & Inspiration From the Angelic Realm,” self-published & copyright by Nefer Khepri, 2017.

Keep in mind that in countless situations your attitude is everything. The same applies to cooking & baking. If you stir in love, happiness, well wishes for luck, prosperity, and so on that simple act elevates your cooking to an act of magic. It also introduces higher vibration energy into the food itself that is then consumed by you & your family. Those higher vibrations then affect your entire physical body and over time the wishes for as you’re cooking begin to manifest.

Now that I’ve covered attitude, which should always be Ingredient Number 1 while preparing food, here’s the bit about stirring that my mom taught me.

First, get a bowl of water and a spoon. Stir it. Note in which direction you are stirring. You will be stirring the water either clockwise or counterclockwise. The direction is determined by viewing the bowl as the face of a clock. Are you stirring the water moving from 12 to 3 to 6 to 9, & then up to 12? This is clockwise. Or are you stirring the water moving from 12 to 9 to 6 to 3 & then back up to 12? This is counterclockwise.

Did you know that the majority of people naturally stir in a counterclockwise direction? Did you stir in that direction?

In magical practice (here I speak from my experience with Wicca as I have been a practicing Wiccan since 1980), to stir or to walk in a counterclockwise direction is called widdershuns. Us witches stir or walk counterclockwise when we wish to banish something, to send it away, because it either no longer serves us or we simply do not wish to have that energy in our life.

When stirring food while cooking if you stir counterclockwise you are infusing the food with the energy to banish something.

The trick then becomes to train yourself to always stir in a clockwise direction (unless you wish to banish something & I’ll get to that in a minute). As you stir the food clockwise (or the mixture prior to placing it in the oven to bake), focus on those things you wish to manifest or attract into your life. It can be anything & they do not have to relate to one another.

For example, a typical list of what I focus on during food prep includes the following:

  • good health (or healing if any of us are sick)
  • prosperity (because we can all use more money)
  • love (see above for money)
  • happiness (especially these days!)

I usually keep my list to 3 – 4 things because that’s easier to focus on and you won’t forget and leave one of your wishes out. If you have trouble remembering, simply write them down ahead of time & then refer to your list as you’re preparing the meal.

Stirring a pot. From pixabay dot com, copyright free images.
Stirring a pot. From pixabay dot com, copyright free images.

There is no set number of times you need to stir. Just keep it up as you normally would while preparing the meal. The only new thing you’re adding are your intentions for yourself & your family, whatever they may be. The important thing is to remember to ALWAYS stir in a clockwise direction. You then stir from 12 to 3 to 6 to 9 & then back up to 12. If you’re used to stirring counterclockwise, this will take you a while to get used to doing, but eventually you will do it automatically.

You can also use the process of cooking & baking to banish those things from your life that you no longer desire. Illness/disease (but always consult a doctor first & be sure you’re receiving medical treatment!), disharmony among family members, worries, problems of all sorts, and so on.

In order to use the cooking & baking method for banishing, you simply change the direction of your stirring. For banishing you stir moving from 12 to 9 to 6 to 3, & back up to 12, then repeat. Focus on those things you wish to banish.

For example, a recent list of things I wished to banish read as follows:

  • misunderstandings
  • miscommunications
  • bad weather
  • arguments

Now, you can get tricky with your intentions, and by tricky I mean you can also work with the phases of the moon (more on that in a forthcoming Witchy Tip), and say it’s waning, but your family needs more money. Waning is best for banishing, not for manifesting, but a way around this is to focus on banishing the problem. So instead of focusing on attracting more money, the focus would be to banish the lack of money, as in “I banish the lack of income coming to me from my business/job/career/endeavors, etc…” When we banish the lack of something from our lives what we’re really doing is manifesting the very thing we need or desire.

For a little more on that & the power of stirring with a knife, I refer you to the most popular & widely shared post from my blog as of yet. In this post I teach you how to place your wishes into a simple cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Something as simple as that daily cup of tea or coffee in the morning can become a very magical experience. The same principles I discuss in that blog post can be easily applied to your cooking as well.

The next Witchy Tip will cover the magical & medicinal uses of the wonderful bay leaf, an herb no kitchen witch should ever be without.

If you have a topic you’d like to see me cover, let me know. I also plan to have these posts eventually cross over with my new YouTube channel so please follow my channel & tune in when I post new videos.

Wishing you many blessings!

The Isabella Oracle.

The Isabella Oracle is self-published by Lynn Boyle of Aquarius Wellbeing. Lynn has been self-publishing oracle and Lenormand decks for a number of years now. Lynn now has 62 decks to her credit, 59 of which are still in print that she sells through her Etsy shop. She’s been a very busy bee!

Isabella Oracle 1

The Isabella Oracle consists of 54 cards packaged in an organza drawstring bag that is accompanied by a 3-page print out of card meanings in A4 size. The cards are typical Lenormand size and are printed with a semi-gloss coating with black borders. The card number and title appear within the black border centered at the base of the image. The style of the artwork is photographic using images within the public domain (i.e., copyright-free).

The first 36 cards may be separated from the remainder of the deck and used as a stand-alone Lenormand deck. Card titles of the first 36 cards derive from traditional Lenormand keyword meanings. For example, Card 1 traditionally known as Rider, is interpreted as a messenger; therefore, Card 1 of The Isabella Oracle is aptly entitled Messenger. The second card that is traditionally Clover and seen as representing luck is entitled, Luck. The images themselves consist of traditional Lenormand card imagery. The remainder of the first 36 cards are titled as follows:

3: Travel, 4: Home, 5: Health, 6: Confusion, 7: Complication, 8: Ending, 9: Appreciation, 10. Severing, 11: Strife, 12: Conversation, 13: Child, 14: Tricky, 15: Strength, 16: Wish, 17: Change, 18: Friend, 19: Authority, 20: Society, 21: Barrier, 22: Decision, 23: Theft, 24: Love, 25: Commitment, 26: Secret, 27: Paperwork, 28: Man, 29: Woman, 30: Harmony, 31: Success, 32: Intuition, 33: Solution, 34: Abundance, 35: Security, and 36: Burden.

This portion of the deck can easily stand alone as a Lenormand deck. Lynn Boyle chose traditional Lenormand images for these cards with the exception of 8: Endings. Here, she has a skull with the traditional depiction being that of a coffin. Card number 10: Severing is depicted with a knife while traditionally a scythe is found on this card. Authority, the 19th card, which traditionally is called Tower and depicts a tower, in The Isabella Oracle here we have the figure of a king carved from wood.

Beginners would do well with this deck in particular because they are basically receiving 2 decks in 1, and having a keyword on each of the first 36 cards will also help them to learn the Lenormand system as long as they maintain a separate list of the traditional card titles. Card titles for all 54 cards nicely convey the core meaning of each card.

The remaining 18 cards transform The Isabella Oracle in a 54-card oracle deck. Card images are reminiscent of Lynn Boyle’s Aquarius Gypsy Lenormand. The card images and titles of the additional cards work well with the first 36 cards and nicely flesh out readings when all 54 cards are used. Card titles and images are as follows:

37: Agreement (handshake), 38: Breakthrough (the Hindu god Ganesha), 39: Cleanse (tree frog), 40: Contemplation (a man meditating), 41: Cupid (winged cupid statue & hearts), 42: Cycles (ferris wheel), 43: Disappointment (heart pierced by 3 swords), 44: Doorway (door), 45: Forgiveness (dove of peace), 46: Hand of Fate (hand of Fatima), 47: Illusion (broken mirror), 48: Malfunction (broken bottle), 49: Rebirth (phoenix), 50: Timing (clock), 51: Toxic (bottle of poison), 52: Transformation (butterfly), 53: Observation (owl), and 54: Yin Yang.

The cards shuffle easily and withstand rifle shuffling well. I have used The Isabella Oracle with equal accuracy as both a Lenormand and oracle deck. The black borders make the images “pop” and the deck looks lovely against a dark reading cloth.

The Isabella Oracle is available directly from the deck creator at: https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/AquariusWellbeing where she has numerous 5-star reviews, offers 59 decks for sale, and has been on Etsy since 2013. I can tell you based upon my own experience she ships quickly & despite the package being shipped from Australia to Texas, it arrives quicker than what one would expect.

Wishing you many blessings!

What Goes Around, Comes Around

We live in a reciprocal universe. What we send out into the universe comes back to us in one form or another. If you do a person a good turn, then in time someone does you a good turn or somehow you are repaid for your kindness. Today was a perfect example of this principle.

I took my daughter to the craft store. She & I are both artists & we needed a few supplies, plus we had coupons. As we walked out of the store praising one another for all the money we saved a man came walking up to us.

He had on a dirty white polo shirt and quite worn and tattered jeans. He was in jeans although it was 99 degrees in Houston today. His face was creased with the type of wrinkles that excessive worrying can create.

“Excuse me, ma’am,” he said. “I don’t like coming up on people like this, but my wife & I are trying to get to my friend’s business in Rowlett, Texas. He has a job for me there that would help me get back on my feet. I hate to trouble you, but we are out of money & need to buy gas. We have only 250 miles to go and we’re here from New Orleans where I’ve lost everything due to a fire. Anything you can do to help, we would appreciate it greatly.”

Thankfully, I am a psychic intuitive. Even before the man opened his mouth I felt a huge pull on my solar plexus chakra. Your solar plexus is located at the midpoint of your body at the base of your breast bone. It stores your life energy and helps to regular the energy levels of your upper and lower chakras. When someone pulls that severely on my solar plexus I know that they are severely depressed and that they may have reached the end of their rope.

I did not hesitate.

I asked the man to move aside with us out of the way of parking lot traffic and I would see what I had for him. He thanked me profusely and said even loose change would help.

As a woman I know how dangerous it is to open your purse in a parking lot, especially in front of a male stranger, but I had my 18-year-old daughter with me who is a trained black belt, plus I intuitively knew that neither of us was in any danger & this man really needed our help.

As I looked in my wallet I was surprised to see that for once, not only did I have

cash, but my cash consisted of three twenty dollar bills. I had nothing smaller than a twenty & then I remembered I had been to the ATM machine two days ago & had withdrawn $60 from my account. I also had a single one dollar bill, but I knew there was no way I could give him only that.

I took out the twenty, folded it so he would not be able to see the denomination and handed it to him. My daughter saw it though & her mouth dropped open, then she quickly snapped it shut & said nothing.

The man thanked me & gave me the usual “God bless you,” & said this would help he & his wife reach his friend in Rowlett. I blessed him as well & my daughter & I continued to walk toward my car.

My daughter looked at me with stars in her eyes. She hasn’t looked at me that way since she was small. She said, “wow, Mom! What did you do? You gave him $20!”

I smiled & said, “well, that’s all I had. It was either that or a $1 bill & I didn’t want to do that to him, plus I know he needed it. I felt such a pull on my solar plexus. That man is in real trouble.”

My daughter put her hand on her upper abdomen as she exclaimed, “me too! I felt that pull too! It hurt, actually. What was that?” She knows all about chakras because I’ve taught her.

I explained that when someone is extremely depressed, desperate, or very low on their own physical energy they will unknowingly (in most cases) reach out to the nearest person & begin to draw energy from their solar plexus in order to replenish their low energy reserve. I told her I felt that even before the man began to speak & that told me he wasn’t scamming us. He was in real trouble so I did what I could to help out.

As we got in my car both of us felt relief from his solar plexus energy pull. We looked back and took a good look around the parking lot. The man was nowhere to be seen. My daughter pointed out that had he been a scam artist we would have seen him begging from another person.

As we drove off I could still feel a slight pull on my solar plexus so I instructed my daughter to send off a quick prayer to Archangel Michael & ask him to sever the energy cords that man had sent out to her & that I would do the same.

That’s a very simple process that is painless to all involved. All you do is ask Archangel Michael in your own words to use his Sword of Truth to sever all energy cords running to you from that person. State their name if you know it. Then ask that Michael sever all energy cords running from you to that person through all space, all time, & across all dimensions.

This occurs instantaneously. Michael does not wait & you will feel immediate relief. I have used this method countless times over the years. I felt immediate relief after I said the prayer & I asked my daughter how did she now feel. She said she felt fine & that she felt better after she prayed to Michael.

I turned this into a life lesson for her. I told her the way the universe works is whatever we send out into it we get back, usually three times over. This occurs whether we send out good or bad energy. I told her since I did that man a good turn & did it from my heart, expecting nothing in return, that at some point soon the universe would repay me in kind. She nodded in agreement & said, “Wow, Mom. You’re so generous. Oh, I love you so much! This is a wonderful lesson for me. Thank you!”

If I hadn’t been sitting down in my car I probably would have fallen over. I couldn’t even reply because I was all choked up. I certainly did not expect that type of a reaction from her. I expected her to roll her eyes and say, “OK, Mom,” as she usually does.

We came home & a few minutes later my husband came home. He lost his nice banking job in October, 2015 & we’ve been struggling ever since to keep the bills paid & food on the table. In March, 2016 he purchased an Always Best Care business franchise. He now provides in-home care for seniors. His business has been struggling for over a year now.

As I placed a load of laundry into the washer I overheard him speaking on the phone with one of his clients. I heard him say, “Twenty? For this weekend? Yes, we can do that. Let me make some calls & see  who I’ll send out.”

He came out of his office & told me a regular client needed extra help this weekend & just asked for 20 additional hours of care for his father, who is bedridden due to a stroke.

I immediately thought back to the $20 I had given that man in the parking lot.

Twenty hours will cost the client $20 per hour & my husband’s share will be $10 of that with the other $10 going to the caregiver, his employee. 20 times $10 is $200.

Within an hour my family had been repaid not 3 times over, but TEN times over for the generosity I displayed with that man in the parking lot.

And now you see how the universe works.

What goes around indeed does come around. Sometimes quickly, as in this case, but in most instances it does take a bit of time. Do good without any expectations & watch how you can benefit another person while in time you also reap a karmic reward.

Wishing you many blessings!
