Nefer’s Witchy Tips # 1: Attitude & Stirring

Are you a kitchen witch? Do you infuse your cooking with positive energy as you’re busy creating your family’s meal? If not, do you realize the simple practice of food preparation can be transformed into a very simple yet effective magical ritual that can help to manifest what you desire for yourself and your family? Read on …

I have been a kitchen witch all my life. As soon as I was old enough to stand on a chair to watch my mom cook, I began my official training. My very first lesson, which I have since passed on to my own daughter, involves stirring.

Now, you may ask, what is so special about stirring? All you’re doing is mixing the ingredients & preventing food from burning on the bottom of the pan.

Yes, that’s true, but if you have a propensity for all things witchy the simple act of stirring becomes much, much more.

When we stir – yes, we are mixing the ingredients, BUT, we are also infusing the food with our energy. Therefore, your emotional and mental attitude while cooking becomes important. How many times have you been upset about something, then you make dinner, and about halfway through suddenly everyone at the dinner table is arguing with everyone else? Think about it. I’m sure you can come up with a few examples.

That occurred because you were upset, sad, or angry while cooking and as you prepared the meal those emotions went right into it along with all the other ingredients.

Therefore, as part of  Tip # 1, a very important ingredient that should henceforth go into all you cook & bake is this:

your attitude

You're as Positive as your Attitude, from "Guidance & Inspiration From the Angelic Realm," self-published & copyright by Nefer Khepri, 2017.
You’re as Positive as your Attitude, from “Guidance & Inspiration From the Angelic Realm,” self-published & copyright by Nefer Khepri, 2017.

Keep in mind that in countless situations your attitude is everything. The same applies to cooking & baking. If you stir in love, happiness, well wishes for luck, prosperity, and so on that simple act elevates your cooking to an act of magic. It also introduces higher vibration energy into the food itself that is then consumed by you & your family. Those higher vibrations then affect your entire physical body and over time the wishes for as you’re cooking begin to manifest.

Now that I’ve covered attitude, which should always be Ingredient Number 1 while preparing food, here’s the bit about stirring that my mom taught me.

First, get a bowl of water and a spoon. Stir it. Note in which direction you are stirring. You will be stirring the water either clockwise or counterclockwise. The direction is determined by viewing the bowl as the face of a clock. Are you stirring the water moving from 12 to 3 to 6 to 9, & then up to 12? This is clockwise. Or are you stirring the water moving from 12 to 9 to 6 to 3 & then back up to 12? This is counterclockwise.

Did you know that the majority of people naturally stir in a counterclockwise direction? Did you stir in that direction?

In magical practice (here I speak from my experience with Wicca as I have been a practicing Wiccan since 1980), to stir or to walk in a counterclockwise direction is called widdershuns. Us witches stir or walk counterclockwise when we wish to banish something, to send it away, because it either no longer serves us or we simply do not wish to have that energy in our life.

When stirring food while cooking if you stir counterclockwise you are infusing the food with the energy to banish something.

The trick then becomes to train yourself to always stir in a clockwise direction (unless you wish to banish something & I’ll get to that in a minute). As you stir the food clockwise (or the mixture prior to placing it in the oven to bake), focus on those things you wish to manifest or attract into your life. It can be anything & they do not have to relate to one another.

For example, a typical list of what I focus on during food prep includes the following:

  • good health (or healing if any of us are sick)
  • prosperity (because we can all use more money)
  • love (see above for money)
  • happiness (especially these days!)

I usually keep my list to 3 – 4 things because that’s easier to focus on and you won’t forget and leave one of your wishes out. If you have trouble remembering, simply write them down ahead of time & then refer to your list as you’re preparing the meal.

There is no set number of times you need to stir. Just keep it up as you normally would while preparing the meal. The only new thing you’re adding are your intentions for yourself & your family, whatever they may be. The important thing is to remember to ALWAYS stir in a clockwise direction. You then stir from 12 to 3 to 6 to 9 & then back up to 12. If you’re used to stirring counterclockwise, this will take you a while to get used to doing, but eventually you will do it automatically.

You can also use the process of cooking & baking to banish those things from your life that you no longer desire. Illness/disease (but always consult a doctor first & be sure you’re receiving medical treatment!), disharmony among family members, worries, problems of all sorts, and so on.

In order to use the cooking & baking method for banishing, you simply change the direction of your stirring. For banishing you stir moving from 12 to 9 to 6 to 3, & back up to 12, then repeat. Focus on those things you wish to banish.

For example, a recent list of things I wished to banish read as follows:

  • misunderstandings
  • miscommunications
  • bad weather
  • arguments

Now, you can get tricky with your intentions, and by tricky I mean you can also work with the phases of the moon (more on that in a forthcoming Witchy Tip), and say it’s waning, but your family needs more money. Waning is best for banishing, not for manifesting, but a way around this is to focus on banishing the problem. So instead of focusing on attracting more money, the focus would be to banish the lack of money, as in “I banish the lack of income coming to me from my business/job/career/endeavors, etc…” When we banish the lack of something from our lives what we’re really doing is manifesting the very thing we need or desire.

For a little more on that & the power of stirring with a knife, I refer you to the most popular & widely shared post from my blog as of yet. In this post I teach you how to place your wishes into a simple cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Something as simple as that daily cup of tea or coffee in the morning can become a very magical experience. The same principles I discuss in that blog post can be easily applied to your cooking as well.

The next Witchy Tip will cover the magical & medicinal uses of the wonderful bay leaf, an herb no kitchen witch should ever be without.

If you have a topic you’d like to see me cover, let me know. I also plan to have these posts eventually cross over with my new YouTube channel so please follow my channel & tune in when I post new videos.

Wishing you many blessings!

2016: 3 Positive Things About the Year

2016
It’s not even December & already people are starting to post negative things about how awful 2016 has been. I agree, but I challenge all of you to comment here with 3 POSITIVE things about 2016. They can be huge or tiny, it doesn’t matter. Look back at YOUR 2016 & post in the comments here 3 positive things about YOUR year. I shall begin:

2016 was a great year for me because in signed-copies-final-copyJanuary I was informed my Egyptian Lenormand deck won ATA Tarot Reflections & CARTA awards for Lenormand Deck of the Year for 2015. The Egyptian Lenormand also won a second CARTA award for Best 1st Work by an Illustrator. My personal 2016 was off to a great start!

2016 was a great year for me because I began work on not just one, not just, two, but FOUR new deck projects! I have been very busy being creative. When I am creative I am always at my happiest.

blog-cover-image2016 was a great year for me because I completed my deck, Guidance & Inspiration From the Angelic Realm, which is about to open for pre-orders any day now. I am so excited about my latest deck creation & I hope you’ll be excited about it also!

2016 was a great year for me because …
THE CHICAGO CUBS WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!
My childhood dream came true before I died!!!!
champions

Oh wait, that’s FOUR things. Oh, well. I was never good at Math. Now it’s your turn. What 3 wonderful things happened for you in 2016? I could go on. Let’s see …

2016 was a great year for me because I decided to invest more in myself & began a healthier lifestyle.

2016 was a great year for me because I decided to no longer allow negative people (even friends!) pull my energy down. No more! YES! I am FREE of all that!

first-time-voter2016 was a great year for me because my daughter was inducted into the National Honor Society, and at the end of November she will be inducted into the Science National Honor Society. She is already a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. My husband & I are so incredibly proud of her & all of her accomplishments!

2016 was a great year for me because I gained many new clients for my business, all of whom told me my services helped them and now many of them have become repeat clients.

signing-the-contract-online2016 was a great year for me because my husband decided to leave his banking career for an altruistic business, Always Best Care, which provides care & companionship for seniors who are stuck at home. He may make peanuts, but he is making a HUGE difference in the lives of seniors & his employees. I am so proud of him!

As we all look ahead to 2017 with great anticipation, what are your positive expectations for the New Year? What do you look forward to accomplishing? What sort of blessings are you opening your heart to receive? Again, I ask you to list 3 things. Once again, their importance or size doesn’t matter. What 3 things are  you looking forward to in your personal 2017?

As I glance into 2017 I look forward to completing my manuscript for my publisher. My forthcoming book will focus on Lenormand cards, but with a twist. I can say no more.

I also look forward to my daughter graduating high school in June and starting college in the fall. That will be a MAJOR adjustment since she is an only child & the apple of our eye.

I also look forward to focusing my creative pursuits on TWO new Tarot decks in production. I am creating one on canvas painted with acrylics. The other deck is a mixed media project involving watercolor pencils, Copic marks, and whatever other artistic mediums I decide to use.

I also look forward to 2017 when my husband’s business will experience major growth and our personal prosperity will greatly increase!

marquee-this-is-the-year-funnyFinally, I look forward to 2017 when the Chicago Cubs will be known as the Big Blue Machine & will defend their World Champions title by winning the World Series for a second consecutive title!! Now, THAT will make for an incredibly exciting baseball season if you’re a Cubs fan! I can’t wait!!!

What are you grateful for in 2016 and what are you looking forward to in 2017? Set your positive expectations now, then next year at this same time look back at them and marvel at all you have accomplished!

Wishing for You Abundant Blessings in 2017 & Beyond!

Ebola: Together We Can Heal

Healing event - Maui 2014
Along the Road to Hana, Maui, Hawaii. (C) Nefer Khepri, 2014.

I had another dream about the Virgin Mary last night. I don’t remember if She said anything to me. She was facing me, dressed in an iridescent blue robe and white gown. She was wringing her hands & had tears of blood all along her face. They were coming down & the blood was beginning to saturate the neckline of her robe. Although She didn’t say a word (that I can remember) I’m sure that dream is tied to the Ebola problem. If you remember, I dreamt about her a couple of weeks ago and She asked us all to pray & to pray often & hard, with emotion. You can read that blog post here if you missed it.

As a result of this new dream, combined with the first dream, and the current state of world affairs, I cannot help but think both are tied to the Ebola situation. Doctors and missionaries who have become infected with the virus are being shipped to their home countries for treatment. Those home countries (at least in Dallas, Texas) are not properly equipped to deal with Ebola so others have become infected. Already there has been a nurse infected in Spain who was treating a missionary and a nurse here in Texas (Dallas) who treated the man from Liberia who passed away last week.

Consequently, I have created a public event on Facebook asking everyone, no matter what your walk of faith may be, to please pray, send energy using any healing modality you know of, and light candles holding the intentions I have outlined below. I invite everyone to join the event on Facebook and I ask you to please share this blog post so others can also join in our efforts. The event is set for Saturday, but any time this weekend will be just wonderful.

The intention I feel we should all focus on should involve the following points:

  •  healing energy to those affected in West Africa
  •  healing energy to those affected who are in other areas of the world
  • protective energy to all healthcare workers treating Ebola patients
  • protective energy to all missionaries & other volunteers working with Ebola patients and caregivers
  • protective energy to all nations in order to prevent the worldwide spread of Ebola.

I truly believe if we make a concerted effort & we all focus on these main points every time we pray, send energy, or light a candle, that we can make a real difference.

Prayer to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots. Photo (C) Nefer Khepri, 2014.

My Facebook friend, Sally Nur, posted this prayer to her timeline this morning. It was one of the first things I read when checking my account. It is VERY powerful. Just reading it made my intestines feel like they were shaking! I am sharing it here in the form of a meme I created using a photo I took of a small shrine to Our Lady that was set into the cliff wall somewhere along the Road to Hana, Maui, Hawaii. This is a little shrine, about 2 feet long, that is set into a hole in the cliff wall along the Road to Hana. You can only view it going TO Hana. If you’re coming back then you have the opposite lane of traffic between you and the shrine. The twisty, narrow 2-lane road doesn’t allow you to look around well so coming back from Hana everyone would definitely miss it. My husband and I made the drive to Hana twice before & we never saw the shrine until our third trip this past June. I don’t know if the shrine is brand new or if it’s been there all along. I’m so glad we found it this time. My husband actually saw it first and backed up the car so I could take this picture. We risked being rear-ended on a curve along the cliff road that had about a 1,000 foot drop so I’m very glad I got this picture in one take!

I invite everyone to use this prayer if you so desire & to join us in our global effort to find a cure for Ebola. Already too many lives have been lost.

How to Use the Big Red “X”

What is the Big Red X?  In short, this is the most powerful tool in your red XPositive Thinking arsenal.  Yes, a simple red X.

All you have to do is to be able to imagine or envision a big red X in your mind for this to work for you.  It’s easy, fast, and despite its simplicity, it is incredibly effective.  Effective at what?

Canceling out negative thoughts, fears, and worries.  If you can imagine a big red X then you can effectively and immediately cancel out the energy of a negative thought, fear or worry the second you realize you are experiencing one.  This will succeed in clearing the negative thought, fear or worry of any energy you may have placed into it with your emotional reaction when it occurred to you.

You have most likely read or heard the saying ,”thoughts are things.”  It’s very true.  All thoughts contain energy specific to them.  The energy is placed into a thought as a direct result of our emotional reaction to it.  For example, when I was quite a bit younger I wanted two things more than anything:  to visit England and to see Paul McCartney in concert just once before I died (or he died, whichever came first, most likely him, I would think due to a 21 year age difference).  In the early 80s I read Shakti Gawain’s book, Creative Visualization.  All other later books on positive thinking are merely a rehashing of this one.  It’s a classic in the field & I ***highly*** recommend this book.  Gawain spends a bit of time explaining that when we have a thought and react emotionally to it we are giving that thought real life so that eventually through that energy from our emotions it can manifest into reality.

So there I was, a teenager thinking all I’d ever want out of life was a trip to England & to attend a Paul McCartney concert.  Instead of merely wishing or praying for these things to happen, I focused my emotions toward these thoughts and I imagined the things I desired happening as if they were happening right now.  I also summoned up my emotions and made myself FEEL like I figured I would feel in England and at the concert of my dreams.

I won’t lie. It took a while, but in the end, 1989 was a humdinger of a year for me!  I completed my Master’s degree after tremendous hardship caused by racial discrimination (I’m Mexican-American for those of you who do not know).  My parents then gave me a choice:  for my graduation gift I could accept a used car or an all-expenses-paid trip to England.  Well, dang! I took the trip, of course!

My England Visualization, as I call it, centered around being in a small 12 – 15 member tour group of all lovely people & seeing places like Stonehenge, Avebury Circle, ruined castles, London, & being able to shop to my heart’s content.  I also focused on King Arthur & seeing places mentioned in those stories.  The trip turned out to be offered as a tour by the History Book Club.  The theme of the tour was “the real & legendary King Arthur.”  Leader of the tour was Aubrey Burl, a well-known & highly respected authority on British stone circles.  When I went to England, to my delight I discovered there were only 10 people in my group, all except for one were delightful (we all did our best to ignore her!).  Not only did I see many places connected to Arthurian lore, but our guide made sure as we traveled around Britain every time we were near a stone circle we would stop, get out, and he’d give us a lecture about that particular stone circle.  I saw many that aren’t even in books.  It was truly an amazing experience that surpassed even my own wildly vivid visualizations.

On the second to last day of my England trip I turned on the TV to “AM Britain,” a morning news show.  Something just made me turn it on.  As I got ready to meet my tour group for breakfast I was rushing around my room with the TV on in the background.  I then heard the announcement that Paul McCartney was about to come on to announce a tour. It would be his first since 1976, a gap of 13 years.  I sat totally disbelieving as Paul announced he would be going on a world tour that would begin in the US that December.  I returned home 3 days later to discover that in a few days concert tickets were going to go on sale.  A few days later I was holding Paul McCartney concert tickets in my hot little hands!  December 3, 1989 not only did I see the concert of my dreams, but I saw it with my parents & 3 best friends – just as I had envisioned it.  A perfect ending to one of the most fabulous years in my life – all of which came about through positive and creative visualization.

Now, what if you have a fear that despite how much you may visualize, what you desire won’t come to you?  What if you feel undeserving?  Whenever such fears enter your mind all you have to say no to negdo is what I did – cancel them out by imagining a big red X across them.  SEE that X crossing out the negative thought/fear/worry.  KNOW that it no longer holds any power and believe it is dead, because it is.  Should your mind once again return to that negative thought, again, imagine the big red X.  Do this over and over until the thought no longer occurs to you.  When a negative thought/fear/worry enters your mind remember one thing:  Just Say NO!  Do not give such thoughts any power by investing any emotion into them.  If you do, then they have the power to manifest as reality and none of us desires that.

Once you have crossed out the negative thought with your own personal giant red X, the next step is just as crucial, if not more so.  Every time we take something away or cancel something out we create a vacuum. The universe abhors a vacuum and will seek to immediately fill it.  The absence of the negative thought you just X-ed out creates a vacuum.  Don’t wait for the universe to fill it for you.  Instead, focus on something positive.  Usually, it will be the polar opposite of the negative thought you have just experienced. Merely turn it around into a positive thought, focus on that and invest some emotion into it to give it life.

Another thing you can do, let’s say it’s just a worry. For example, you’re stuck in traffic so you start to worry about being late for work.  You catch yourself worrying and mentally draw your big red X through that worry.  You can either replace it by imagining yourself arriving safely and on time for work OR you can simply change your entire mode of thinking and replace it with something else of a positive nature.

A positive thought or emotion used to replace a negative one can come from your own personal warehouse of memories.  Think back to a time when you were blissfully happy. Everything was going your way.  God was in His heaven and all was right with the world.  Once you come up with that thought, focus on it and invest some emotion into it.  Remember how happy it made you feel and feel that happiness once again.  The ability to recall that emotion will definitely cancel out any fears or worries you may be having at the moment.

Happy times for me include, of course, my very first Paul McCartney Maui 2011concert (plus the subsequent four I’ve attended over the years – especially the Nov. 2012 concert when I was able to take my daughter, a dream come true!), my first trip to England, and a lovely trip my husband and I took to Maui in 2009 (we went back in 2011 & I have lovely memories from both vacations).

Once I have the happy memory in my mind I allow it to play out as best I can remember it.  I allow myself to feel the joy and happiness once again.  Not only does it work wonders to totally cancel out any feelings I may have sent to a negative thought or fear, it also works to help me to feel better and to go about my day with an improved outlook.

Try it.  It truly does work.  Let me know how well it works for you.
