I received proof today that a spiritual house cleansing is a tangible thing that even a nonbeliever can sense once it has been carried out, but more on that later. I live in Houston and after a very brief, but intense winter cold snap temps are now back up to the high 70’s so I decided to open all the windows today to enjoy the breeze. Since it had been a while I decided to carry out a major house cleansing. I figured that as last year was so yucky for so many of us (myself included!) that you may be interested in learning my method of spiritual house cleansing so you can rid yourself of all that nasty energy from last year and start 2017 with an energetic clean slate.
A thorough cleansing of a home or business consists of opening every closet, cabinet, 
drawer, cubby, the attic, garage, & the perimeter of the property. I arm myself with a lighter & a box of my current favorite stick incense or the old standby, which is frankincense & myrrh. As I walk through the property I make sure the incense smoke visibly reaches all areas, especially corners of the ceiling where negative energy can remain trapped. Negative energy can also hide in drawers, closets, under the beds, and so on, which is why it’s important to open all those areas up & be sure to waft some incense into each spot. It is also very important to leave a window cracked open in EACH room. This gives the negative energy an easy escape route.
Materials you need are simple: a lighter and either frankincense & myrrh or your favorite scent of incense. Now, if you are experiencing paranormal activity in your home use the frankincense & incense. This is used by the Catholic Church prior to every Mass so if it’s good enough for them … plus, negative entities do not like the smell. Sometimes the smell alone can be enough to drive them away. This is due the very high frequency of frankincense & myrrh when used in combination.
Once you have opened all closets, drawers, and so on start at either the front door or the entry to the building you use the most. Open the door & in your own words invite the negative energy to leave. Close the door and commence with the spiritual cleansing.
Visualize a bird’s eye view of the property and impose upon that the face of a clock. Your front door will be at 6:00. Any back door to the property will be at approximately 12:00 (or 11, or 1, depending on the location of the back door in relation to the front door). The midway point of the left-hand side of your house (as you stand at the front door facing inward) will be at 9:00. The midway point of the right-hand side of your house will be at 3:00.
It is VERY important when carrying out a cleansing that you constantly work your way counterclockwise through the building. This direction holds true for the entire building as well as each individual room & closet. In this way you shall start at the door you use the most and move to your right. So as you make your way through the building you are constantly moving to the rooms on your right as you work your way around until you are back at your front door. So you are moving from 6:00 to 3:00 to 12:00 to 9:00 and you then complete the circuit back at 6:00.
If you have more than 1-story/floor to deal with, start at the very top. For my home, this is the attic. I actually climb the rickety ladder that leads up to it & waft the incense around. I begin in the far right corner and move on to the front right corner, then the front left corner, and back to the spot where our attic door is located, which is the rear left-corner. I allow the incense smoke to float on up to the rafters in all four corners as I say prayers to Archangel Michael asking him to conduct any negative energies out of our home and into the light. Should you wish to pray to him, I include his prayer at the end of this post. You can also google “prayers to Saint Michael” and quite a few will come up so you can choose the one with which you resonate the best.
As you begin at the top of the building work your way down always keeping in mind you must be moving constantly counterclockwise so you will be moving always to your right. You enter each room as it comes up to your right, cleanse each room beginning in the right-hand corner nearest the point at which you entered the room, moving counterclockwise from the right-hand corner nearest the door to the right-hand corner furthest from the door, then on over to the left-hand corner furthest from the door and finally to the left-hand corner nearest the door. Then you leave the room.
If you like, when I leave a room I have just cleansed I seal the room. I will wave the incense in the door and make the shape of the Ankh. Sometimes I will use the Pentagram and place the Ankh within it. This is a personal preference of mine that you are not required to do in order for your own house cleansing to be successful.
Once you are done with one floor, continue on with the floor below until you have reached the first floor. Carry out the cleansing on the first floor in the same manner you cleansed the upper floor(s), but as you begin and end at your front door or the door you use the most, open the door at the end of the cleansing and COMMAND all negative energy to leave & tell it that it does NOT have your permission to ever return. Do this in your own words. Then step outside and with the incense walk the perimeter of your property counterclockwise as well while praying to Archangel Michael or whatever aspect of higher power you call upon for help with your spiritual cleansing. End once again at your front door.
This final bit is of crucial importance so NEVER omit it! As you open your door to enter your newly cleansed home or business with the door STILL OPEN say in your own words that you invite in the positive forces of the universe. You should mention angels, spirit guides, protective ancestors, aspects of Deity, and any other spiritual beings you would like to take up residence in your home. Also ask them to keep all negative energy out of your home and away from your property.
Your spiritual cleansing is now complete. As for that proof that spiritually cleansing your home really works, my husband is a born again Southern Baptist. He is also a Virgo. And a former banker! I know, I know. Why, oh why did I ever marry him? I married him because he is a good man, can handle money well while I cannot, & he has the ability to make me laugh everyday. It is not easy to make me laugh. That alone scored him major brownie points while we were dating.
I cleansed our home today while my husband was out meeting with prospective clients for his business. He left the banking industry and now runs his own business providing in-home non-medical care for the elderly. I knew he would be gone a few hours, which gave me enough time to conduct a thorough cleansing. I finished about 3 hours before he got home and with all the windows open there was no residual scent of incense in our home by the time he arrived.
He walked in the house and began telling me about his day, then he stopped not three minutes into the conversation in mid-sentence and said, “Oh, wow! It sure was a great idea to open some windows today. The house feels so light & airy. In fact, it just feels really GOOD in here. Did you do something? You know, something witchy?”
For a non-believer my husband is quite intuitive and he can pick up on energies, little does he realize himself. I merely smiled and said, “I gave the house a thorough spiritual cleansing today & invited the angels to come in to play.”
He laughed and replied, “as long as it’s NOT fairies. Those guys hide my car keys on me!” Which is a whole other story …
