Did you know you have several spirit guides? Everyone does. Some have just a few while some, like my daughter, have 31 (!!). Why she needs so many is anyone’s guess, but she is a teenager so that may be the reason. Perhaps all teens have over 30 guides.

I have many, many people ask me all the time, “Nefer, how can I contact my spirit guides? I don’t have any. No one ever answers me!”

Not true! You DO have spirit guides AND they answer! You just haven’t learned how to listen yet. More on that in another blog post. Here, I want to show you how EASY it is to make an initial connection with your own set of spirit guides.

This comes from a happy accident that happened to me yesterday. This is the type of accident that as it is occurring you don’t realize it’s an accident until you look back on it later.

A couple of weeks ago I had purchased a very nice piece of azurite from a shop that was azurite self promo my picholding their monthly psychic fair. Now, I very seldom go to these things simply because I have no need, but my daughter wanted her cards read so I took her since there is NO WAY she would EVER go to MOM for a card reading! Oh, perish the thought!!

I was not looking for azurite, but I was looking for a few other stones. I have a piece of tumbled azurite & was happy with it so I didn’t need a new piece, or so I thought. As I passed it by one piece really caught my eye. It wasn’t as pretty as two out of the four additional pieces they had on display, but there was just something about it. I guess I was picking up on its energy.

I picked it up & the second I did it felt like something within the stone latched onto me. It didn’t want to release my hand & the azurite felt like it was glued to my palm. I pulled it out of my hand with my right hand, but that didn’t work either because then it just attached itself to my right palm. I figured OK, fine. I guess this means you’re going home with me. I bought the darn thing & took it home.

I did what you regularly do with new stones. I cleansed it in a mild solution of spring water with a tiny pinch of sea salt (never use much salt as that can ruin many of the more delicate stones, just FYI – a tiny pinch is all you need because you’re working with the salt’s energy signature, not the salt itself). I then set it out under the full moon (this purchase had good timing) to further cleanse. The next day I left it out in the sun for a few hours in a new solution of just spring water asking Father Ra to charge it for use with my third eye and crown chakras in particular.

I placed the azurite with my other favorite pieces and there it sat for about 10 days looking pretty.

Yesterday afternoon after a day of doing 3 readings and feeling a bit drained I decided to use my new azurite to balance my crown and third eye chakras. This is a very simple process. Other stones you can use are: amethyst (the darker, the better), rose quartz (this is best for connecting with your angels), and clear quartz.

What I do is as follows:

  • I hold the stone in my LEFT hand. You take energy IN through the left side & send it OUT through the right side.
  • I focused on my angels & spirit guides asking them to bless &work through the azurite to cleanse and balance my crown chakra first.
  • I then carefully balanced the piece of azurite on the top of my head, which is the location of the crown chakra.
  • I took three deep, slow breaths.
  • Next, I held the azurite in my left hand against my third eye chakra (located in the center of your forehead just above the bridge of your nose).
  • Again, I took three deep, slow breaths.

As I was about to put the azurite back on my altar with it still held against my third eye chakra I felt something amazing. It was as if a bolt of energy entered the azurite and then zapped me right through my third eye! I felt the bolt go clear to the back of my head and OUT. I nearly fell backwards!

I put the azurite back on my altar and immediately sat down because the room was tilted at about a 30 degree angle from my perspective. I quickly regained my composure and felt fine. I filed the experience in the over-stuffed “Gee, Wasn’t That Weird!” file and went about my day.

Fast forward to about 4 hours later. It was time to drive my daughter to work.

I don’t bother with the radio for such a drive. I’m about to pull out of the parking lot into traffic when I hear a male voice coming from the passenger seat of my car. I’m the only one in the car with the a/c on & windows closed.

The voice tells me in a very calm matter-of-fact tone: “You should turn the radio on because they’re about to play David Bowie.” I figured NO because The Eagle in Houston basically sucks & they don’t play Bowie. But you know how it is. You hear a strange voice & first you freak out, then you figure well maybe I ought to turn on the radio. I do so & hear the concluding strains of some crap song & then FAME comes on!!!!

It was all I could do to not run my car off the road in shock!

I can tell you the voice belonged to a man & he sounded to be in his late 40s, maybe early 50s. Mature-sounding. He had a typical American accent so he may have been from the Midwest, which is considered the ideal American accent to have.
Once the song started up & I avoided wrecking my car from the shock, I did ask him who he was. All he said was “Shh!” I was like, “well, then!”
My impression at the time was that he didn’t want us talking over the song, then by the time I pulled into my driveway right after “Fame” concluded Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” came on. That’s my 2nd favorite song by them so I was rocking out in my driveway. I probably scared him away with my brand of “singing.”

Today the new guide’s been a bit chatty. He tells me his name is Roger & he has already apologized 4 times for NOT being David Bowie, which strikes me as being really funny. A spirit guide named Roger! Not very exotic. No Native American Shaman, or ancient Egyptian high priest, or even a teacher from the past. He said, and I quote because it’s just too dang funny:

“I’m just plain ‘ol Roger. There’s nothing spectacularly special about me. I was just hanging around & someone said hey! Wanna be a guide? I figured that sounded interesting so I said yes & here I am! I’m also very sorry to be so disappointing right off the bat like this. I am not David Bowie, but he’ll be around. You can’t see me, but as I say that I’m winking at you.”

I received this message in a brief session of automatic writing. My new guide signed it:

“Just Plain ‘Ol Roger”

Poor Roger! I feel bad for him! I guess that the method I used to connect with my new piece of azurite basically turned out to be like rubbing a genie’s bottle, but instead of some great powerful genie, Plain ‘Ol Roger popped out!

Try my method and let me know if it works for you. A more detailed method has a page dedicated to it at my website so do check it out. And remember, whenever you attempt to connect with your spirit guides or angels, ALWAYS call on some form of spiritual protection FIRST – even after regular contact has been established. The reason behind this is that lower spirits will attempt to masquerade as higher spirits in their attempt to mislead you. You can easily avoid this by calling on some form of spiritual protection first. Secondly, keep trying! Do not give up. It took me about four months before I noticed anything and then my guides at first only spoke to me in my dreams. Now they are seldom quiet. Sometimes I think I’m a good example of that old saying, “be careful what you ask for.” So do be careful. Remember, protection first EVERY time, and if you at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. It’ll happen eventually.

The Importance of Intuition & How to Develop & Strengthen It

Are you intuitive? Yes you are, whether you believe you are or not. Everyone is intuitive. Everyone has intuition. The trick is to learn HOW to listen to your intuitive voice. There are easy steps you can take to strengthen your own intuition. Your intuition is the most important tool you possess. I will share a recent experience from my own life that proves that beyond any doubt.

Just what is “intuition?” Your intuition is that calm inner voice or sometimes just a “feeling” in your “gut”. We all have intuition. The voice speaks whenever we need guidance. Most of us hear it, but to varying degrees. There are steps you can take in order to make your intuitive voice stronger so you can actually hear it and then follow the guidance and act accordingly.

Your intuition comes from the Divine. Physically, it is located between the Third Eye and Crown chakras, some say it is housed in the pineal gland. All I know is when a strong intuitive feeling or thought comes through to me I can always feel my Third Eye chakra spinning clockwise. Sometimes it can even make me feel a bit dizzy, but it’s always a sure sign I need to act on whatever intuitive feeling is coming through to me.

As our gift from the Divine, our intuition will NEVER mislead us. It will never tell you to do something that goes against your morals, ethics, or results in harming yourself or another. If such thoughts do seem to enter your consciousness from the outside, banish them because chances are they come from your own fears or perhaps even low vibration entities.

When following your intuition you can never go wrong. I have found this true in my life more times than I can count. In fact, the times I have allowed myself to think that my Ego Mind knows better and have ignored my intuition disaster or severe disappointment has been the result. It is always wise to listen to your intuition and to act on the information that comes through to you. That information is coming to you for your own highest good and the highest good of all concerned in the situation.

 Steps to Strengthen Your Intuition

There are a number of very simple exercises you can do in order to tune into your own intuition. It amounts to playing a guessing game with yourself about certain things. Choose something for which the answer would come to you shortly regardless of intuition.

For example, you may want to get some paper and write down the names of the next 2 – 3 people you “feel” will call or text you next. Keep the list with you and throughout your day check it when a call or text comes through to test your accuracy. If you keep up this simple game daily you will find yourself becoming increasingly accurate.

The movie,
The movie, “Back to the Future 2” predicts the Chicago Cubs will win the World Series in 2015. For this Cubs fan hope springs eternal & they are doing very well this season!

Another example, if you watch any sports guess what the final score will be or which team will win. Keep daily track if you follow a particular team and in a month see how your accuracy has improved. That will be a sign your intuition is growing stronger.

Your intuition is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger and more accurate it will become. If you’re not interested in using it, then your intuition will atrophy and won’t work for you much at all. If you’ve gone through years of not knowing you had intuition or just not interested in learning about it, but now you are, rest assured that by using these simple guessing exercises you can help to tone and strengthen your intuitive muscle until it becomes a true and accurate guide for you.

Water is a very good conductor of energy. I suggest that you come up with your intuitive guesses while you’re bathing. I have received major intuitive feelings and thoughts while in the bathtub. Intuitive feelings also strike when I’m washing the dishes. In my experience water helps the flow of intuition.

Nature strengthens your intuition as well. If you already spend a lot of time out in nature, that’s great. If not, work towards spending more time outside. Imagine yourself as a tree with your feet grounding you to the earth and your head reaching up into the heavens from where intuitive hunches originate. Imagine yourself as a pillar of light conducting this intuitive energy down and into your Crown chakra (top of your head) and feel it move down into your Third Eye chakra (approximately just above and between your eyebrows). Feel your intuition being activated and strengthened. Do this every time you go outside for about a minute and you will be surprised at how much stronger your intuition becomes in just a month of doing this very simple exercise.

Simple works. Just because these exercises are simple don’t assume they won’t work. They will. I used these same exercises to strengthen my own intuition and whenever I feel it needs to be rejuvenated I practice the same exercises again.

An Example of Intuition Helping My Family

Always listen and never question when it comes to your intuition.

That’s a difficult lesson to master because our egos make us believe we know best. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve second-guessed my own intuition only to always be proven wrong in every case.

Uncle Gilbert & my parents ca. 1976.
Uncle Gilbert & my parents ca. 1976.

A few months ago I began to think a lot about my favorite uncle who lives in Colorado. There was a 30-year gap in communication due to a bad misunderstanding my mother had that caused her to cut off her baby brother and that entire section of our family. When Mom got sick my dad broke the silence and called him. My uncle dropped everything and immediately came to see my mom. It was as if nothing had ever happened and they had a lovely reunion. The best part is that I had my favorite uncle back in my life and over several visits to Colorado I am slowly getting to know my cousins and aunt better.

As I began to think of my uncle several times a day I got a queasy feeling that something was wrong. He is in his 70s so he’s no spring chicken. My husband had been unemployed for several months last year and we could not afford to take a vacation, but I begged him to take us to Colorado and told him I had to see my uncle again. He agreed and we just returned from a 10-day vacation with family.

The minute I saw my uncle I knew something was very wrong. He no longer walked straight and tall. He was now hunched over, but not all the time. I thought maybe he had osteoporosis, but then I noticed two other things that were not evident last summer when I had last seen him.

He was now walking without moving his arms. It’s normal for a person to slightly swing

their arms as they walk. His arms were no longer moving as he walked. The most telling change in him was that now he had a pronounced tremor in his right hand/lower arm.

My heart broke when I saw that tremor because my own father had died from Parkinson’s Disease. I quickly added up my uncle’s other visible symptoms and determined he very well could have Parkinson’s Disease or some other neurological issue.

Before we left I spoke with one of my cousins and carefully explained what I had seen and what it could mean based on what happened to my own father. He agreed to speak to his mother, my aunt, about it and they will hopefully get my uncle to a neurologist sooner rather than later.

My cousin told me he had noticed the tremor and just assumed it was old age setting in. That’s the danger with Parkinson’s Disease. Once the tremors begin most will write them off as old age, nerves misfiring or anxiety. When someone develops a tremor in an extremity (hands, feet, even the head can be affected) PLEASE err on the side of caution and get them to a neurologist as soon as possible.

My dad had a history of carpel tunnel syndrome and had had 2 surgeries on each of his wrists and elbows. When his tremor began in his right arm he blamed the side effect of the surgery since a known side-effect is the gradual loss of muscle control. Sometimes his hands would go limp as he held something so he’d drop it. The sad thing was my Mom got him to see a neurologist, and Dad must have been told what was wrong because when he came home he told us that doctor was an idiot who was wrong. Dad went into total denial. He had the tremor for 3 years and then after my mom died Dad went downhill so fast and developed dementia. By then I had gotten him to see a neurologist again (and the same doctor, unbeknownst to me at the time) who diagnosed him correctly with Parkinson’s Disease.

Had my dad only faced the truth of his situation he could have received proper treatment a lot earlier and perhaps he would have been able to avoid all the unpleasant developments that occurred as a result of the disease. We’ll never know for sure one way or another, but I know one thing for sure. I was the one to add up how my uncle was walking, his posture, and the tremor and realized he was now just like my father had been at the start of Parkinson’s Disease.

I have told my cousin and my cousin has spoken to his mother. Now I hope they get my uncle immediate medical attention so he can be diagnosed and treated accordingly.

This is why it is ALWAYS important to listen to and ACT on your intuition. These feelings come to us for a reason. I thought I was just being paranoid. I certainly do not want to lose my uncle so soon after we have reconnected, and at times I told myself that’s all my uneasy feelings were, but when they became so pronounced that I had trouble sleeping I knew I had to see him again so I could assess his well-being in person. What I saw has upset me tremendously, but I will always be grateful that despite our financial problems at this time my husband took us to Colorado for the visit.

Remember, your intuition is your best friend. Never question it and never doubt it. Your intuition will never steer you in the wrong direction.

The Psychic Workbook: review

The Psychic Workbook, by Karen Fox, PhD., Schiffer Books 2015. 223 pages. 8 1/2 x 11″, PB. $24.99.

Psychic Workbook

“Being psychic is a learned skill.” (page 4, emphasis mine)

I rarely pick up a book & then can’t put it down. The Psychic Workbook is on of those rare books that is not only well-written, but it is highly informative and helpful. Anyone who wishes to work on developing their intuition and psychic abilities more fully will find this book to be one of the most useful titles ever written on the subject.

The book begins by identifying the “clairs” (clairaudience, clairsentience, clairvoyance, claircognizance, and even clairalience and Psychic workbook pageclairgustance), which are classifications of various types of psychic ability. The author then focuses on short exercises that help you to identify the clairs that are the strongest for you. Once you have done that, the rest of the book is filled with numerous exercises for you to do in order to develop your strongest clairs more fully AND to also focus on developing the other clairs.

Exercises range in length from short to those that require perhaps up to 20 minutes to complete, and everywhere in between. What I particularly appreciate about The Psychic Workbook is that the author provides ample space within the pages not only to record all of your answers to the questions contained within the exercises, but there are always psychic workbook page 2several pages of lined blank paper at the end of every chapter where you can record your own observations. This is really nice because then you’re not required to purchase a journal, unless you are addicted to journals like I am.

The Psychic Workbook is well-written and easy to understand and does not leave the reader feeling like an authority from on high is talking down to them (a personal pet peeve I have with many books of this nature). Instead, the tone of the book focuses on an attitude of “try this, you might like it; and if not, simply move on to something else.” Don’t feel you MUST complete EVERY exercise in the order in which it is presented. I skipped around in the book and did those exercises that interested me the most and this approach worked out just fine for me. If you want to carry out each exercise in order, of course there isn’t anything wrong with that approach either. Many people, when they are faced with a book that contains exercises have terrible flashbacks to school and having to complete all exercises within a chapter in order to be tested on the material at the conclusion of the chapter. This book is nice and friendly. I doubt very much that you will experience any unpleasant school-related flashbacks. In fact, had my schoolbooks been more like this one I may have enjoyed school even more so than what I actually did. I loved school simply because I love the process of learning new things.

Chapter headings are as follows:

  1.  So You Have a Hunch: What IS Psychic Ability & Do You Have It?
  2. Getting Started: Know Your Psychic Sense
  3. Meet the “Clairs”: Components of your Psychic Sense
  4. It’s Easier Than You Think: 7 Approaches to Psychic Development
  5. Getting Unstuck: Create the “Package” For Your Psychic Abilities
  6. It’s There When You Need It: Using Your Psychic Ability in Everyday Life
  7. Your Next Step: The Final Frontier is Not Space (Sorry, Star Trek)

The final chapter title made me laugh.

The author, Dr. Karen Fox, is a professional psychic medium, medical intuitive and psychic educator with over 30 years teaching experience. She currently teaches at the Aspen Program for Psychic Development in Denver, Colorado. She is educated in the formation and organization of curriculum and this is very apparent throughout The Psychic Workbook. The book reads like a course book from start to finish. Exercises are well organized, to the point, and all are very helpful.

The Psychic Workbook will appeal to anyone who has ever had an intuitive hunch and who is interested in developing their intuition further. The Psychic Workbook would also be of interest to those of us already psychic in one or two areas, but may want to train ourselves to develop skills in other areas of psychic development. The Psychic Workbook will appeal to newbies as well as seasoned psychic professionals and I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
