I’m sure everyone has had the “blahs” or a day when you just don’t feel quite yourself. You may think that perhaps it’s stress or maybe you’re coming down with some type of bug. Whatever the case may be, you are feeling out of sorts, but can’t put your finger on the cause.
This is where a very quick and simple spiritual cleansing of your energy body can do wonders for you. My aunt taught me this method & I have used it most of my life so I pass it along to you. May it help you as much as it has helped me over the years.
Materials:
- Your body
- a broom
- two full glasses of water
If you like, you can place the water in a pitcher, or just have 2 full glasses of water within easy reach. My aunt always prayed to Archangel Michael over the glasses of water. You can do that or pray to whomever you resonate with the best. If you are attuned to Reiki or any other healing modality, feel free to give your water a burst of energy before you use it.
My Aunt’s Method:
My aunt was Catholic so she began by saying this prayer to Archangel Michael:
Archangel Saint Michael, Defend us in our battles. Be our protection against the wickedness & snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, Thrust into hell satan & all evil forces who wander the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
She would say this prayer while holding her hands over the water with her fingers together as though she was wearing a tight fitting pair of mittens. Her palms would be facing the water. I have seen her do this with one palm over each glass of water, or both palms held over a pitcher of water. Your choice.
Next, she would anoint her forehead by dipping the index finger of her dominant hand into the first glass of water. She would then make the Sign of the Cross on her forehead and also over her heart. If you’re not Christian or the Cross makes you feel uncomfortable (after all, it was a method of extreme torture), you can substitute the Cross for another symbol that conveys to you the meanings of holiness, spirituality, and protection. Other ideas are: the Egyptian Ankh (which is what I use since I work with Egyptian deities), the pentagram, Star of David, Hamsa, and so on.
Next, drink the first glass of water down completely. You can do this as slowly or quickly as you wish.
Grab your broom. This can be any kind of broom, but I use a besom, as did my aunt. It’s otherwise known as a “witch’s broom.”
Hold the broom with the bristles pointed upward. The broom should be straight over your head so that the base of the broom handle is in your hands, which are directly above your head.
Swing the broom in a counterclockwise circle over your head beginning with a tiny circle that approximately matches the circumference of your head. Sweep the broom in ever widening circles until you are swinging it outward as far as you can. Be sure you’re not near anything that you may knock over with your broom.
Work your hands up the length of the broom’s handle. Beginning in the front of your chest hand the broom handle over from your right to your left hand. You are going to now use the broom to “sweep” a circle around your body.
Be sure the bristles of the broom are facing UP for the entire cleansing process.
With the broom handle now securely held by your left hand move it so the broom is basically behind your back. You have just “swept” the area of your aura from your chest through your left-hand side and approximately halfway across your back.
Next, place your right hand behind you and grab the broom handle with it. Continue the counterclockwise motion along the right-hand side of your body and on back to your chest area.
Repeat this three times with the bristles always remaining at chest height.
Work your hands further up the broom handle and hold the broom so the bristles are now level with your navel. You may actually be holding the base of the bristles themselves, depending on the size of your besom or broom. That is fine. Repeat the same process making sure the bristles are pointed UP. Begin with the broom handle in your right hand. Move it across your body to your left & grab the handle with your left hand so you can continue the sweep across your back, then grab the broom while it’s still behind you with your right hand and complete the circle so that the bristles are back at your navel.
Repeat three times.
At this point, switch the orientation of the broom so that the bristles now face the floor, but DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO TOUCH THE FLOOR.
Begin by holding the broom handle in your right hand. Sweep the air just above your feet, but do not allow the bristles of the broom to come into contact with the floor. Should this happen you’ll have to start over from the beginning, but you can skip drinking another glass of water.
Complete the counterclockwise circle around your feet three times.
Set your broom aside and thank whomever you have called upon at the start of your cleansing for their help and protection. Do this in your own words.
Ask whomever you called upon in the beginning to bless the second glass of water with blessings. You can ask for particular blessings you need; for example: good health, healing, love, prosperity, a new job, and so on.
You can ask that the water be charged for 3 different blessings.
Drink the glass of water.
Give thanks.
It is done.
This cleansing can be repeated any time you feel the need. You can also perform this cleansing on others, but be sure that whoever receives the cleansing is the person to drink the water. If you do this on your pets they are not required to drink any water.
