Tarot Tuesday: the week of Sept. 19 – 25th

Sept 19 bThis is the inaugural post for a new feature at my blog, Tarot Tuesday, for which I will provide a short reading for that week’s energies. The week runs from Tuesday – Monday and the energies for the week will cover the Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual.

This week’s deck is The Golden Tarot of Klimt, published by Lo Scarabeo.

What amazed me is that I randomly drew 3 cards from the deck and they all ended up being from the major arcana. This tells me immediately that very powerful forces are at work this week. Major arcana cards embody universal spiritual forces that affect all our lives at various times. We have some very powerful energy coming into play for this week, as you will see from the cards below.

sept-19-a.jpg

Emotional energies are represented by The Hierophant. This card depicts a man in a robe holding a staff. The traditional interpretation is dogma, rules, doing things by the book, and the established status quo.

Regarding the emotional energies of the week, what I sense from The Hierophant is that many of us really do not like change. I know I don’t. There is great comfort and a sense of security in things remaining as they are, even if we’re not happy with the situation. Some of us would rather be unhappy than deal with change. The Hierophant is very set in his ways. A real stick-in-the-mud. He doesn’t want to budge.

What I sense of this week’s energies tells me that we will be called upon to think outside the box.  Doing things the “usual way” worked for quite a while and we still wish to cling to our old approach, but we’re entering a time of great change for our planet. All of these recent storms and earthquakes are proof of that.

The usual way of doing things will not serve our highest good at this time, though we find great comfort in the “norm” and change upsets most people. Our usual responses to the emotional stimuli we face in a typical week will not suffice. We shall be called upon to basically rise above ourselves. For example, if a certain person stands on your last raw nerve and you typically react with anger, this week you will be called upon to react differently. Perhaps with understanding and compassion as you make an effort to place yourself in their shoes. What are they mirroring about  yourself that you may not wish to examine?

The mental energies of the week are represented by The Lovers. The Lovers embody the universal spiritual forces of choice, attraction, temptation, and yes, it can mean a romantic relationship, but in a reading that is meant to be for many people it most likely is not  your romantic relationship so we’ll stick with the energies of the card.

What I sense from The Lovers is that although we may be required to think or react in ways that are different or unusual from our norm, the temptation will be to fall back on old patterns.  Your Ego will think it knows better and will attempt to manipulate you to follow your typical response patterns to emotional stimuli, so that person who stands on your last nerve – your Ego will say, go ahead, get angry or lash out, but The Hierophant is here pointing the way toward a more positive reaction.  Your Ego will bring up your fears and insecurities. Do not fall into the trap it sets for you. Look past  your fears.

The spiritual energies of the week are represented by The World. The World embodies the universal spiritual forces of completion, cycles, and potential. What better image than a woman about to give birth?

Spiritually, there is TREMENDOUS potential for growth right now. This applies to everyone. As our planet goes through new birthing pains that energy is affecting each of us. It is up to us as individuals as to what we do with that energy. Will you put all that potential to good use in order to promote your own growth; or, will you bury your head in the sand by insisting on doing things the same way you always have and miss out on all this new energy and growth that has recently entered the earth plane?

I am thinking of all the new energy that came in with the solar eclipse of August 21st. Did you feel it? I sure did. It nearly knocked me on my ass for 2 days.  It was a great deal for me to process it, and I know I was not the only one affected in that manner.

It takes a real leap of faith to accept new energy into your life because we can never know how things will work out. There is no “plan.” We don’t have a map we can easily follow from point A to point B and beyond. We are pretty much wandering around clueless as to where all this is going to lead us as individuals and as a collective.

We can only have faith that all this “newness” and upheaval will end up being for our highest good in the long run. We have VERY positive forces at work here as these cards demonstrate, so hang on. It’s going to be one hell of a ride.

Magical & spiritual education never ends. It’s basically a bottomless pit of age old wisdom

Free Reading for the Week of May 18, 2015

I asked the cards in general, what do we all need to know for the week ahead? I drew 3 cards representing Body, Mind & Spirit.

The Magical Times Empowerment Cards by Jody Bergsma. US Games, Inc. 2013.
The Magical Times Empowerment Cards by Jody Bergsma. US Games, Inc. 2013.

The message on each card reads:

BODY:  Journey: Focus on how far you have come, not on how far you have to go. you will find help in unexpected places (original emphasis).

MIND:  Adversity: See the gifts in challenge. One can be taught within the calm, but the greatest lessons are learned from the storms (original emphasis).

SPIRIT: Manifestation: Your dreams have untold energy. Open the door and let them live. Desire and belief are your power.

For an oracle deck, The Magical Empowerment Cards can provide some very heavy duty readings, and this reading is a good example of that. (For my review, please see yesterday’s post).

This reading starts with a Journey, as do most things. The first card is saying we’re on a journey and heading toward somewhere & we need to focus on how far we’ve already come, not how far we have yet to travel.

Adversity tells us there will be obstacles along our path. Well, that’s life. There are obstacles and within them we find our greatest lessons.

The final card is Manifestation. If we’re brave and undertake the journey, deal with the adversity we must all face, then through our desire and faith our dreams can manifest.

This week may prove to be one of major achievements and dreams realized as long as we don’t allow the blocks we run across to overwhelm us. Instead, look past them and keep your eyes on your goal.

Thank you for following my blog & feel free to leave comments.

Wishing you all many blessings!

Dolphin Divination Reading for May 14, 2015

The messages received from The Dolphin Divination Cards by Nancy Clemens are always very simple. They are open to interpretation using your own intuition and even kids can use them with great effectiveness (see my review of this deck here).

Today’s words from the dolphins are:

• Free Flow
• Birthing
• Change

The Dolphin Divination Cards, by Nancy Clemens (C) Blue Dolphin Publishing, 1993.
The Dolphin Divination Cards, by Nancy Clemens (C) Blue Dolphin Publishing, 1993.

Here, we are being told that the Free Flow of ideas, thoughts, and actions is what is called for today. Remain open. Try not to isolate yourself. Consider all things.

This approach will result in Birthing, which is bringing something new into the world; whether this is an idea for a new project, a new method for doing something, or a new approach to a problem. Birthing indicates newness.

The outcome of Free Flow and Birthing is Change. The dolphins ask, “whatever it is you wish to change, remember you need to flow freely to the realization that change is good and that will lead to a birth of something new.”

New things entering our lives always lead to change, and change is positive.

Free Tarot Reading: Month of December, 2014.

Today I present a free Tarot reading on the energies for the month of December. For this reading I am using The Starlight Illuminated Tarot, by Carol Herzer. Carol adds fantastic color to the Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) Tarot giving it new life and vibrancy. I have never been a fan of the RWS despite it being the deck I used when I first learned to read Tarot, but I must say I absolutely love Carol’s rendition of it. The Starlight Illuminated Tarot is gorgeous and the colors Carol uses makes each card come to life. I will be reviewing this deck in a future blog post. Meanwhile, you can read about Carol’s decks here (she does have other decks as well) & you can contact Carol at Soul Guidance: sun19@earthlink.net. Now on to the reading.

At first I was going to make this only a 3-card draw, but I wasn’t too crazy about what those 3 cards were telling me so I drew 2 more cards for clarification. Normally, when examining the day, week or month ahead I draw only 3 cards and merely stipulate in my question that I am looking for information on what to expect from my day, week, or month.

The original 3 cards received are the 3 of Pentacles, 7 of Swords, and The Empress.

The 3 of Pentacles, 7 of Swords & Empress from "The Starlight Illuminated Tarot" by Carol Herzer.
The 3 of Pentacles, 7 of Swords & Empress from “The Starlight Illuminated Tarot” by Carol Herzer.

The subject or topic card, the 3 of Pentacles, represents your work or something you create with your hands. Traditionally, this is the card of the stonemason and it can represent a person who is highly skilled working with their hands. As a result, it can represent creative pursuits and creations as well as the 9-to-5 work environment. So here we know the topic of the reading will focus on work for the month of December.

The major influence is the 7 of Swords. Hmm. That’s what I always think when this card appears. The 7 of Swords represents the thief in the night, someone who makes off with what does not belong to them. Usually, when this card appears it indicates that something is about to be taken away. Here, it follows the 3 of Pentacles so it appears that someone will attempt to perhaps take credit for someone else’s hard work or perhaps run off with someone else’s idea and claim it as their own. So we all need to be weary of some type of mischief in the workplace.

The original outcome card is The Empress (by original, that means I drew 2 more cards for further clarification that I’ll discuss below). As a card of the major arcana, The Empress embodies the universal archetypes of Motherhood, Fertility, Creation, Nature, and Abundance. She can represent a female in a reading. Here, what I am feeling is The Empress represents the abundance our jobs bring to us in the form of monetary income, plus the fertility and creation that many of us have through our work as we use our minds to come up with creative solutions in order to complete our work tasks. The Empress serves as an important reminder that when people with the energy of the 7 of Swords make themselves known in our lives we need to realize they are not the creative ones, we are. They have to rely on subterfuge to do well at work while we use our natural skills and acquired knowledge. This indicates that although someone may attempt or even get away with taking credit for your work or an idea, that eventually you will come out on top and go on to better things.

I found that intriguing so I drew 2 more cards to see how The Empress card would pan out. I pulled the 8 of Cups and the 8 of Wands randomly from 2 different places in the deck.

The 8 of Cups & 8 of Wands from "The Starlight Illuminated Tarot" by Carol Herzer.
The 8 of Cups & 8 of Wands from “The Starlight Illuminated Tarot” by Carol Herzer.

I guess sometimes we’ve taken all we can take. The 8 of Cups is about leaving a well-known and perhaps even comfortable situation behind and striking out for the unknown. We all have at one time or another (or even repeatedly) have had to deal with a person who attempts to take credit for our work. In grad school students had ideas stolen – not by fellow students as you would assume, but by professors, even some professors who were already widely published. This almost happened to me with my dissertation. Luckily, when I went up to confront my professor two other students went up with me to say they had heard me present the same information in this same professor’s class earlier in the week & she was merely couching my idea in new terms thinking she’d get away with it. I was so livid at the time I could barely think straight, but my first thought was that if I don’t get my professor to back down I’m leaving that university and seeking my doctorate elsewhere. Thankfully, it did not come to that. She backed down because she had us 3 telling her she was wrong to claim this idea as her own.

That is often our first reaction when something goes terribly wrong. We wish to leave, just up and leave and not look back. So the 8 of Cups is saying that for some of you this work subterfuge may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. You may decide to start looking elsewhere for new employment. Just remember, ignorant people are everywhere and you don’t want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. Carefully evaluate your situation because each will be different from another and determine if seeking new employment is really what you should do at this point in your career and in your life.

The next card, the 8 of Wands, tells us how things from the 8 of Cups will work out. The 8 of Wands is the card of speedy developments in a situation. It can represent messages and travel as well. Following the 7 of Wands, which is about standing your ground and defending your position, I often view the 8 of Wands as the ability to drive your point home once you’ve made it. Here, the 8 of Wands is saying things will develop quickly in the situation so you may want to carefully reconsider any thoughts about leaving and stick around to see how things work out. In other words, leaving may be a bit premature. Some sort of resolution is being hinted at with the 8 of Wands.

That is the overall energy for the month of December. Please keep in mind these are general readings, meaning that I do not intend them for any one particular person. Read it as you would an astrological forecast from the newspaper and ask yourself, “does this really apply to me, or doesn’t it, and if so, how can I best take advantage of the guidance being provided?”

If you are interested in a Tarot or a Lenormand reading from me, you can find ordering information posted at my website. Due to client demand I typically book up for readings 2 weeks in advance so please keep that in mind when ordering. All orders are filled on a strictly first-come, first-served basis & my readings look and read exactly as what you’ve just read here.

Wishing you all many blessings,

The week opens with Green Man, which is most commonly titled “The Emperor” in other Tarot decks. This card embodies the universal spiritual forces of Will, Control, and Organization. It represents skills at being organized, at knowing how to put a project together and get it off the ground, and it is usually a card of accomplishment since the Green Man gets things done. On the downside, the Green Man can be a bit controlling, sometimes even a control freak and the lesson of this card is to always remember it’s great to have a set goal in mind and a good idea of how to attain it, but you also have to be careful not to drive over anyone who may be in your way or may be too slow to join in. Patience may be required from time to time.

The 6 of Mirrors represents nostalgia. It often indicates

either yearning for the past or perhaps wishing to see an old friend. The 6 of Mirrors can sometimes indicate a reunion with an old friend or a family member you haven’t seen in a long time. It’s typically a happy and peaceful card.

The 6 of Mirrors (also known as the 6 of Cups in other Tarot decks) usually is a depiction of a garden. This is a card of slow and steady growth. So all that get up and go in the Green Man card will continue to evolve throughout the week. Things will grow at a pace that is appropriate for them and for you. An old friend may be of help.

The Celtic Owl, like the

Green Man, is another card of the major arcana. In other Tarot decks this is known as the Hanged Man. The Celtic Owl embodies the universal spiritual forces of Self-Sacrifice, Illumination, and often can indicate feeling like you’re stuck in limbo or in a rut.

At the start of the week you have all this great get-up-and-go energy around you that really gets things moving, but by the end of the week I think you’ll be ready for the weekend and wanting to rest and have time to reflect. The Celtic Owl can represent going within, meditating, finding the time to rest and relax. The upcoming weekend will come as a welcome break for many of us, but this will overall be a week of accomplishments.

So go out & make it a great week!

Wishing you & yours many blessings,

Nefer Khepri, PhD., R. M-T.
