Review: Crystal Visions Tarot

Crystal visions tarot 1Originally published in 2011 by US Games Systems, Inc., The Crystal Visions Tarot has remained among my favorite decks to this day. That is notable considering my collection is now up to around 300 decks. The hallmarks of The Crystal Visions Tarot are the bright colors, muted backgrounds that make the main images “pop,” a nice sturdy yet flexible laminate for easy shuffling, and a LWB (Little White Book) that is not so little. The artist, Jennifer Galasso, was inspired by the Stevie Nicks’ CD, Crystal Visions, when creating the deck. Crystals appear frequently in the card imagery in their natural form as well as in the form of crystal balls.

Crystal visions tarot 2The Crystal Visions Tarot numbers 78 cards: 23 major arcana and 56 minor arcana. The cards of the major arcana all have traditional titles with Strength as arcana # 8 and Justice as arcana # 11. There is an extra card entitled, The Unknown Card. The Unknown Card represents some aspect of the situation under question that is still unknown. When it comes to extra cards in a tarot deck it is up to the reader’s discretion as to whether they include the extra card(s) in their readings or not.

The suits of the minor arcana are: Cups (Element of Water), Swords (Element of Air), Pentacles (Element of Earth), and Wands (Element of Fire). The court cards are: Page, Knight, Queen, and King.

The artwork and text of the Crystal Visions Tarot are by Jennifer Galasso. The imagery follows the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition so this is a good deck for beginners. The color scheme and figural representations make  Crystal visions tarot 3 the Crystal Visions Tarot quite readable without a constant need to refer to the LWB, unless someone is absolutely brand new to tarot. It is one of those decks that works very well with a person’s own innate powers of intuition. If you are interested in a good divination tool that can help you to further strengthen your intuition, the Crystal Visions Tarot is such a tool. I highly recommend this deck for both new and well-seasoned readers.

The Crystal Visions Tarot has a very thin, yet sturdy laminate. I have used this deck extensively for six years now and it shows no signs of wear whatsoever. Cards are typical tarot-card size and the deck shuffles easily.

The deck comes housed in a tuck-box that appears to have the same light laminate as the actual cards. I will say after six years the box has a bit of wear, but that is to be completely expected as I have never housed the Crystal Visions Tarot in a bag or another box.

Crystal visions tarot 4The LWB is the same size as the cards, with a single staple as its binding. It contains 64 pages. Card interpretations relate the imagery depicted on the card to the card meaning. Reversed interpretations are included. The card back design is completely reversible for those who read with reversals.

For beginners, the Crystal Visions Tarot is a great deck because the artist followed a specific color scheme for the majors and each of the suit that make the cards much simpler to identify in a reading. The cards of the major arcana all feature a tan border along the base in which the title is presented. Cups cards have a pink basal border that contains their titles. Swords have a light blue border along their base, Pentacles green, and Wands pale orange or salmon. Dominant colors within the card images themselves are  purple, pink, white, blue, red, and green. Colors are bright, yet soft. Artistically speaking, the Crystal Visions Tarot is truly an outstanding deck and is among my personal favorites.

The Crystal Visions Tarot would appeal to anyone who is looking for a deck that is easy to read, especially if they are a beginning, but it’s also great for seasoned readers who may work with crystals and crystal balls who may desire a deck that features their magical tools. The Crystal Visions Tarot also has a lovely pagan look to it so those who follow a pagan path would also find this deck to be desirable.

Wishing you many blessings!

Review: Carry Me Crystals oracle deck

Carry Me Crystals: Chakra Clearing & Oracle Card DeckHow often have you carried crystals and stones in a pocket or your purse in order to keep their positive energies with you? I am sure the majority of those who read this blog have done this at least a few times in their lives. I myself have done this countless times and I also wear jewelry that features my favorite stones and crystals.

Some of us do not have easy access to a shop that sells stones and we may be hesitant to purchase them online as we’re not sure about the quality of the product we would be receiving. The solution to this dilemma is now here in the form of Carry Me Crystals: Chakra Clearing & Oracle Card Deck by Elizabeth & Peter Jarvis, and the channeling of Yeshua by Joanie Eisinger. This oracle deck is meant to serve as a substitute when the actual stones are not readily or easily available to you.

The Carry Me Crystals consists of 44 cards, each depicting a different crystal or stone. The cards are accompanied by a 6 x 9” full color 96-page guidebook. The cards themselves measure 3 ½ x 2 ½”. Each card contains a full color photograph of a particular type of stone or crystal on one side and a brief description of its qualities on the opposite side. My favorite is Amethyst because purple is my favorite color.  The Amethyst card reads, “You are welcoming energy and Light is shining through your crown chakra. Please use when sad and needing re-energizing.” The guidebook has a 2-page spread on Amethyst and explains it is the stone of both the third eye and crown chakras. Various qualities and uses of Amethyst are noted.

The cards and guidebook are housed in a 6 x 9 x 1 ½” box with hinged lid and magnetic closure. It can be stored standing on its end like a book. This is one of the hallmarks of Schiffer deck publications.

The cards have a semi-gloss matte finish to them. They are not laminated so I would actually not recommend that you carry them around with you as you would a real stone. Instead, what I have done with my set is to keep one to three cards visible and I look at them and contemplate the properties of those particular stones and how they pertain to my life and my chakras as I go about my day. I am sure to display the cards I have chosen for my day in a prominent location so that I see them as I pass nearby several times a day.

Another use I have for the Carry Me Crystals is to ask what I need to work on. I then will draw 1 – 3 cards and read their descriptions in the book. I can always relate to some aspect of the properties of the stone or I may realize that I need whatever energy that stone possesses for something I need to work on in my life. I will then display those cards and refer to them throughout the day or even for a few days at a time. I will also draw 1 – 3 cards if I am feeling out of sorts and I ask which chakras need work or healing. I am always amazed when I pull 2 cards depicting stones or crystals that relate to the same chakra. A few times all three cards have related to the same chakra so I know for sure which chakra needs the most work at that particular time.

The Carry Me Crystals is a good reference to own. It not only depicts very clear photos of each stone (the same photo that is depicted on the card is also used for the guidebook), but it also tells you how that stone can work for you and your chakras. I took the guidebook with me when I went to a rock shop recently and used it as my personal shopping list. The guidebook was a huge help to me as it also helped me to assess the quality of the stones I saw in person based on the photographs in the guidebook.

I recommend the Carry Me Crystals to anyone who is interested in stones and crystals. It makes for a nice little reference and as I noted earlier, the cards can be set out where you will see them throughout the day or carried with you in a wallet or purse so that the energy of the stones can affect you in positive ways through their photographs.

Blessings!

How to Connect With Your Spirit Guide

Keith 1 completed PUB
Spirit Guide Portraits by commission. $125 USD + s/h. email IsisRaAnpu@gmail.com for details. Image copyright Nefer Khepri 2015. magickal-musings.com

Did you know you have several spirit guides? Everyone does. Some have just a few while some, like my daughter, have 31 (!!). Why she needs so many is anyone’s guess, but she is a teenager so that may be the reason. Perhaps all teens have over 30 guides.

I have many, many people ask me all the time, “Nefer, how can I contact my spirit guides? I don’t have any. No one ever answers me!”

Not true! You DO have spirit guides AND they answer! You just haven’t learned how to listen yet. More on that in another blog post. Here, I want to show you how EASY it is to make an initial connection with your own set of spirit guides.

This comes from a happy accident that happened to me yesterday. This is the type of accident that as it is occurring you don’t realize it’s an accident until you look back on it later.

A couple of weeks ago I had purchased a very nice piece of azurite from a shop that was azurite self promo my picholding their monthly psychic fair. Now, I very seldom go to these things simply because I have no need, but my daughter wanted her cards read so I took her since there is NO WAY she would EVER go to MOM for a card reading! Oh, perish the thought!!

I was not looking for azurite, but I was looking for a few other stones. I have a piece of tumbled azurite & was happy with it so I didn’t need a new piece, or so I thought. As I passed it by one piece really caught my eye. It wasn’t as pretty as two out of the four additional pieces they had on display, but there was just something about it. I guess I was picking up on its energy.

I picked it up & the second I did it felt like something within the stone latched onto me. It didn’t want to release my hand & the azurite felt like it was glued to my palm. I pulled it out of my hand with my right hand, but that didn’t work either because then it just attached itself to my right palm. I figured OK, fine. I guess this means you’re going home with me. I bought the darn thing & took it home.

I did what you regularly do with new stones. I cleansed it in a mild solution of spring water with a tiny pinch of sea salt (never use much salt as that can ruin many of the more delicate stones, just FYI – a tiny pinch is all you need because you’re working with the salt’s energy signature, not the salt itself). I then set it out under the full moon (this purchase had good timing) to further cleanse. The next day I left it out in the sun for a few hours in a new solution of just spring water asking Father Ra to charge it for use with my third eye and crown chakras in particular.

I placed the azurite with my other favorite pieces and there it sat for about 10 days looking pretty.

Yesterday afternoon after a day of doing 3 readings and feeling a bit drained I decided to use my new azurite to balance my crown and third eye chakras. This is a very simple process. Other stones you can use are: amethyst (the darker, the better), rose quartz (this is best for connecting with your angels), and clear quartz.

What I do is as follows:

  • I hold the stone in my LEFT hand. You take energy IN through the left side & send it OUT through the right side.
  • I focused on my angels & spirit guides asking them to bless &work through the azurite to cleanse and balance my crown chakra first.
  • I then carefully balanced the piece of azurite on the top of my head, which is the location of the crown chakra.
  • I took three deep, slow breaths.
  • Next, I held the azurite in my left hand against my third eye chakra (located in the center of your forehead just above the bridge of your nose).
  • Again, I took three deep, slow breaths.

As I was about to put the azurite back on my altar with it still held against my third eye chakra I felt something amazing. It was as if a bolt of energy entered the azurite and then zapped me right through my third eye! I felt the bolt go clear to the back of my head and OUT. I nearly fell backwards!

I put the azurite back on my altar and immediately sat down because the room was tilted at about a 30 degree angle from my perspective. I quickly regained my composure and felt fine. I filed the experience in the over-stuffed “Gee, Wasn’t That Weird!” file and went about my day.

Fast forward to about 4 hours later. It was time to drive my daughter to work.

I don’t bother with the radio for such a drive. I’m about to pull out of the parking lot into traffic when I hear a male voice coming from the passenger seat of my car. I’m the only one in the car with the a/c on & windows closed.

The voice tells me in a very calm matter-of-fact tone: “You should turn the radio on because they’re about to play David Bowie.” I figured NO because The Eagle in Houston basically sucks & they don’t play Bowie. But you know how it is. You hear a strange voice & first you freak out, then you figure well maybe I ought to turn on the radio. I do so & hear the concluding strains of some crap song & then FAME comes on!!!!

It was all I could do to not run my car off the road in shock!

I can tell you the voice belonged to a man & he sounded to be in his late 40s, maybe early 50s. Mature-sounding. He had a typical American accent so he may have been from the Midwest, which is considered the ideal American accent to have.
Once the song started up & I avoided wrecking my car from the shock, I did ask him who he was. All he said was “Shh!” I was like, “well, then!”
My impression at the time was that he didn’t want us talking over the song, then by the time I pulled into my driveway right after “Fame” concluded Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” came on. That’s my 2nd favorite song by them so I was rocking out in my driveway. I probably scared him away with my brand of “singing.”

Today the new guide’s been a bit chatty. He tells me his name is Roger & he has already apologized 4 times for NOT being David Bowie, which strikes me as being really funny. A spirit guide named Roger! Not very exotic. No Native American Shaman, or ancient Egyptian high priest, or even a teacher from the past. He said, and I quote because it’s just too dang funny:

“I’m just plain ‘ol Roger. There’s nothing spectacularly special about me. I was just hanging around & someone said hey! Wanna be a guide? I figured that sounded interesting so I said yes & here I am! I’m also very sorry to be so disappointing right off the bat like this. I am not David Bowie, but he’ll be around. You can’t see me, but as I say that I’m winking at you.”

I received this message in a brief session of automatic writing. My new guide signed it:

“Just Plain ‘Ol Roger”

Poor Roger! I feel bad for him! I guess that the method I used to connect with my new piece of azurite basically turned out to be like rubbing a genie’s bottle, but instead of some great powerful genie, Plain ‘Ol Roger popped out!

Try my method and let me know if it works for you. A more detailed method has a page dedicated to it at my website so do check it out. And remember, whenever you attempt to connect with your spirit guides or angels, ALWAYS call on some form of spiritual protection FIRST – even after regular contact has been established. The reason behind this is that lower spirits will attempt to masquerade as higher spirits in their attempt to mislead you. You can easily avoid this by calling on some form of spiritual protection first. Secondly, keep trying! Do not give up. It took me about four months before I noticed anything and then my guides at first only spoke to me in my dreams. Now they are seldom quiet. Sometimes I think I’m a good example of that old saying, “be careful what you ask for.” So do be careful. Remember, protection first EVERY time, and if you at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. It’ll happen eventually.

How to Activate Your Third Eye Chakra

Special thanks to Darcy for sending me a question on Facebook that inspired this post.

I get asked all sorts of questions all the time & here is one I think many of you have so I am sharing my response to Darcy.

Clear Quartz Crystal. What do you do if you wish to be more intuitive?  Darcy realized it’s important to activate & balance your Third Eye chakra, but she wondered how she could do it ? There’s a very simple method and all you need is a clear quartz crystal.  Size doesn’t matter, just be sure 1 end of it terminates in a point.

First you’ll have to cleanse it. I do this by putting the crystal in a bowl of spring or filtered water with a teaspoon of salt mixed in & leave it under the moon over night.

Next, it is ready to be charged. Give the water to the earth, then rinse the bowl & place in it only spring or filtered water, no salt this time. Place the crystal in the bowl of water & set it out in the sun all day long.  Your crystal is now cleansed & charged, ready to use.

Next, you need to set your intention for your crystal. You hold it up to your Third Eye, point facing upward toward the top of your head & state your intention SEVEN times & be SURE your intention is worded the same EACH TIME.  You may wish to write down your intention first.

Something like, “In the Name of All That is Good (or, in the Name of ______ <insert name of God/dess>), I charge this crystal to help open & balance my Third Eye chakra.”

Repeat 7 times, then your crystal is ready to be used. You can keep it on you in a pocket or purse, or keep it by your bedside table at night (warning: quartz can keep you up at night, just FYI), or in a sacred place in your home. Everyday hold the crystal up to your third eye & repeat your intention 7 times to help open & balance your third eye.

A quartz crystal is the only kind that can hold up to 3 unrelated intentions, so you can use it for other things like protection, love, prosperity, whatever. You can charge it up to 3 intentions the same way as above, except leave out the moon cleansing & sun charging since it only needs to be done once.

Should your crystal seem to stop working for you, or if it cracks or grows discolored, Amethyst stone with chevronbefore buying a new one, try the lunar cleanse & solar charging again. If that won’t work then the crystal has served its purpose and it’s time to buy a new one & return that one to the earth from whence it came.

ImageOther crystals good for third eye are: Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, & Fluorite (purple), also Sodalite.  Azurite is particularly good (but can be hard to find & kind of expensive, if you can find it, get it tumbled as it’s so pretty tumbled), & any other purple or dark blue stone.

There are particular crystals & stones associated with each chakra. If you wish to combine stones & crystals with your chakra work there is plenty of information online.  Remember, Google is your best friend 🙂

NOTE:  WordPress is now showing ads at the bottom of my blog. I do NOT endorse any of these ads or approve of this change.  They are doing this because I am not paying their crazy fee to go ad-free for $30/year.  If they would work out all the problems I encounter every time I attempt to post anything I would be happy to pay that fee, but for now looks like ads will be inflicted upon you all & I do apologize.  Should anyone wish to donate a contribution so I can upgrade my blog to WordPress’s premium service, which would then be free of ads as well, please send a donation to me using PayPal.  We’ve had car problems, doctor’s visits, & I’m so strapped right now it’s not even funny or I’d just say be done with it & upgrade immediately.  My PayPal payment address is:  IsisRaAnpu@gmail.com & thank you to anyone in advance for your kind contribution.  Here is what you receive if you donate to my blog so I can upgrade:

  • $5 – a tea light enchantment with the intention of your choice.
  • $10 – a 3-card Lenormand reading on any subject, except health. Sorry, I do not do health readings for ethical reasons.
  • $20 – a votive enchantment with the intention of your choice.

Each person who contributes will also be thanked publicly at my blog unless they wish to remain anonymous.  Again, I apologize for the WordPress ads.

Lastly, when the links to my blog are posted, lately they have not gone “live” immediately as in the past.  You may get an “Error 404: Page Not Found” message. If you do, please try again in an hour or two.  WordPress is having these issues, not me, & there isn’t anything I can do about them, unfortunately. I apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing any of you.
